We're flying out of Rochester, NY for the first time. Can anyone give me any info about the airport and/or tips about parking?

All I've heard so far is that someone was told to park on the roof and ended up paying extra when they went to pick up their car! :scared1:

Any advice you have about this airport would be much appreciated!:worship:

We live in the Rochester area and only fly out of there. On-site parking is about 12-13 per day, no additional charge to park on the roof of the garage. You can valet park for $20 per day. There is a parking lot across the street from the airport that is affiliated with the airport, they have shuttle buses that transport you to the terminal (3 minute ride). I believe it may be about $8.00 a day there. We flew out spring break two years ago and that lot was full so DH was directed to a gravel lot (shuttle there too) that was even less money to park but...got a flat tire, cost of new tire and DH's jacket was ruined when he changed the tire. Since then we park on site or valet it. When we were there two months ago they were expanding the parking garage so parking was limited. Be sure to get there early so you have plenty of time to park where you want to.

We're in Rochester too. You can find the maps and parking prices here:

It's hard to tell from the map, but it's actually a pretty easy walk from the green lot to the terminal (unless it's raining/snowing). I usually park in the yellow lot and the shuttle service from there is really good.

We like the shuttle lot across the street (it used to be a separate owner, but the airport took it over.) Shuttles are always there waiting to pick you up (24 hrs) and they drop you right at your car. The airport is quite small and pretty user friendly. Only two wings. Center food court area has a McDonald's, a Subway and some local coffee shop type places. Good waiting area with kids. Not often delays unless there's weather trouble on the east coast. All in all a pleasant departure point.:)

Thanks everyone for making me feel better! :)

Now, can anyone make me feel better about how I look in my bathing suit? :rotfl2:

You look like YOU in your bathing suit - and you already know that you look great. You have a good overall self-image and don't let what 'other people' might think affect you in a negative way. You accept a compliment well and properly - with a simply, "thank you". - and know that any negative comment about you is the speaker's problem, NOT yours. You have good taste (just ask your husband - you chose him, right? ;))

Therefore, with this knowledge, you're aware you look good in anything you choose - including your bathing suit. The heck with what anyone else thinks. Especially on vacation, you'll never see them again anyway - and they have their own issues, they're probably not even paying attention to you :teeth:.

How'd I do?

Wow, katieeldr, great words of inspiration! You should change your screen name to Dr.Phil! :)

I live in the Rochester area as well. Rochester is a very nice, clean airport. We have used the shuttle parking lot several times with no problems at all. Our last trip we had to arrive at the airport at 4:30 am and I was a little concerned when we pulled into the shuttle lot because I didn't see a shuttle bus anywhere and wondered how they would know we were there......Within 2 minutes, a shuttle bus pulled up and took us to the main airport. Driver said they drive around continuously looking for people.... Great service.

Another tip we used a lot when the kids were little and we took early morning flights is there is a hotel located right next to the airport. If you spend the night at the hotel, they will keep your car in their parking lot for free. It worked out great for us. We live about an hour from the airport so being closer allowed us to sleep in longer :goodvibes Back then it was the same price for the night as it was to park in the airport lot for the week and it made our vacation feel just a little big longer ;)

Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!

Hi  another Rochester person here.

Just went on a week cruise, parked in the red Economy lot and it was $49.50 for the week...we were gone Saturday morning until the following Sunday night. It's pretty inexpensive. There is a Marriott close to the airport if you come in the night before. And a lot of hotels right near the Thruway in Henrietta. Extremely easy airport to get in and out of. Seriously, after living in Philly & Chicago for a bit and using their airports, the Rochester airport is like heaven.
