Roadtrip!!!

I'm so glad it worked for you!
I couldn't believe the savings:goodvibes
I rented points as well for a DVC so it was a great savings all around. Have you considered driving straight through?

My neighbors did it from Canada with their two young children (6 and 4). It's about 22 hours from here. They did it in shifts so that one person could sleep while the other drove. They left around supper and the kids fell asleep and slept through the entire night. They stopped at rest stops for snacks and a stretch. She packed the car with activities and played movies for them and books on tape. They said it went fantastic.

That would get you there faster without needing a hotel on the way there or back. Might be worth it:)

I would LOVE to go straight through! But my DH says it might be too much! Im gonna try to push it and drive through he just doesnt know it yet! LOL! I would love to do it atleast the drive down just to get there quicker! :goodvibes

WOW thats crazy!! I liked the first part though! I would have gone crazy sitting in traffic that long! How old are your kids? I have an almost 3 yearold and I am trying to avoid making him crazy sitting in a car too long. I am trying to plan it to where we have some planned breaks to give him time to stretch his legs. How was the drive back?

So we are HOME!!!!! My kids as ds6, ds12 (special needs) and dd13. We did the same drive to Orlando last year and it was soo much better. I've already decided not to drive next year:headache: Leaving very early was the best thing because the kids slept for close to 7 hours. THe bad part was I was the only driver. I had taken a nap the day before, thinking I'd "catch up on sleep" and be better for the drive. Unfortunately I didn't sleep the night before the trip (an who really does anyway). I would say the "avoid toll" route is the way to go. Only cost me .75 on the way down; on the way back I just wanted to get home and choose 95 North. I didn't keep track but I would guess the tolls to be about $25 or so. Even my kids kept asking "another toll?"

We drove from Orlando to Rocky Mount, NC on the first day and Rocky Mount to Providence yesterday. We left Rocky Mount about 8 a.m., stopped several times for lunch, gas and bathroom breaks, etc and made it to Warwick, RI by 9:45 a.m.

I packed a cooler with water, juice, milk and cheese sticks. I also packed a box with snacks the kids like (goldfish, chips, cereal). That helped a lot with costs. Crayola makes therse really cool markers that write on glass. THat was the best $4.00 I ever spent!!! Of course I brought gameboys, coloring books and my laptop, but they spent most of the time writing on the windows, wiping it off and writing some more

The only thing that annoyed me-other than the traffic jam and storm-was that most of Route 95 is only 2 lanes!!! WHich means that if you will get caught in slow moving traffic frequently

how much do you spend a week on groceries? Don't forget you can use that line item toward your food budget since you won't be spending it at home:thumbsup2 (I'm just assuming you're staying a week...)

If doing quickrewards.net should be able to get marriott gift cards, resturants gift cards and gas cards. That cover some big expensive right there.

Yes I have paid for trip using quickrewards.net

Im taking notes!!! Thank you for the update! I am really excited and nervous about the drive! I am lucky tho because I have my husband to swap with and I am use to being up all night since I work the third shift. I think those two things will help me drive straight through on the way down. I would like to take it slower on the way back and enjoy it.

Where did you get the crayons? Do they melt? My kids would love those!!!!

We spend about 150 so that will def be added into the food budget down in Florida. so thats about two meals on property or 3 off or about 7 cs meals! Thatll work for me!!

I like your style lol!!!!

Yea I did that too. For my car it came out to $368. We are gonna be putting in more money in for the trip. I dont think you could go anywhere these days just on what his grandmother gave us! When I did the airfare out it was about 1200. I wanna spend that on the entire trip! I figured out I am able to get tickets through the yes program thatll be 508 gas is 375 give or take, the hotels on the way and back will be about 100, and if I am able to use my MILs timeshare thats 0. that brings us to $1000. No souvies this time:sad2: Ill get over it! lol! beyond that is food which alot of it we will eat at the villa! the disney gift cards I have will cover when we are at the parks! I hope im not forgetting anything big!

Just did the trip from southern pa (gettysburg area) in an 08 town and country and it was 362.19 in gas which included driving while there.

DH works in Marlborough MA so we have done from here to Foxboro MA (normandy farms) numerous times.

With kids definitely need to do the majority of the driving overnight.

I think you could do it non stop on the way down switching drivers doing the majority overnight (but will you be drained when you get there) but definitely take 2 days on the return trip if you will be leaving in the morning from disney
