Riverside or Yacht Club?

I've stayed at both and YC by a million miles. If you gave me a free trip to stay at POR - I'd have to pass. We hated that resort with a vengenace. Now everytime we drive by it, we stick our tongue out at it.

POR was a dump.. Cockroaches, broken refri. , tried to get refrig fixed every and I mean every day, long walks to food area, no organized bu pick up, lying manager, rude front desk....one of the worst experiences ever! Yacht club was a PALACE compared to PORS for sure, no doubts, no comparison!

I agree 1 billion percent! A dump! When I posted my trip exp. on the boards people got nasty about what happened to us because they "loved" PORS and tried to turn around everything that happened to us. To each his own. My experience was a vaca from hell due to PORS!

Lol. Same here. I got in big trouble when I said that I hated POR. Someone even figured out the dates of our trip and then looked at weather forecasts of those dates and said that the rain I experienced while on vacation was probably the reason why I hated it so much. :confused3. I tried my hardest to like it too. I love that type of architecture and that whole era of a lazy time, but POR just didn't do it for us.

Another vote for YC! Last year, we stayed at POFQ and then transferred to YC the day the AP discounts kicked in. I thought POFQ (not POR, but close) was great for a mod - it might even be my favorite mod and I have many good things to say about it. But I was THRILLED the day we switched to YC. I was so excited to make the move that we were up at 6am and arrived at YC via cab by 6:30am or so. Of course, our room wasn't ready, but we were just happy to be there.

The difference between buses everywhere at POR and walking/boating to Epcot and DHS from YC is huge. SAB is a pool that can't be beat. The dining options around the Epcot resort area and in World Showcase are wonderful. We don't do lots of CS, but there are a number of options in the area, including the BC Marketplace, Picabu at the Dolphin (full breakfast menu, open 24 hours and less than a 10 minute walk from the YC lobby - shorter from the room) and now the new Boardwalk Bakery. The YC lobby offers some light continental breakfast options and Captain's Grille is right there for a TS breakfast.

And then there's the balcony in a YC room - I love a balcony. It really increases the size of the room, and it's so relaxing at the end of the day after the kids are asleep, or when the kids have a few minutes of down time in the room. I so missed that balcony at POFQ and was happy to have it back at YC. And now we're getting down to minor details, but the room decor, interior corridors, comfy bedding and linens, peaceful lobby, rocking chairs out on the porch, views of the lake at YC . . . the list goes on!
