Planning FPs.
We will be there in the middle of June.
The WDW website lists 2 shows-9:15 and 10:30.
Is this correct?

Will we get a choice on shows for FP?
If we want the second show, do we even need a FP?
Chances of getting the FP as a day of FP?

I went to the River of light show the night before last without a Fast Pass and there were still empty seats. I would think a second show would lessen the crowd even more.

Oh and we are not as concerned about perfect seats as just getting a seat.
What time would we need to line up for the 10:30 show with and without FPs?

We arrived no more than 15 minutes before the show started and had great seats. The seats are dispersed in a wide arc around the lake with an equal view of the show.

I was there at the end of March. We got FP for the 10:15 show, but probably did not need it to get in. You do get better seats with the FP than standby so I think it is worth the FP for that reason. You certainly need a FP for the early show.

That's not necessarily the case.
It depends on where you get a seat in the FP section vs. where you sit in the standby section.

It's so hit or miss. Standby is usually packed full an hour prior to the show, usually when it's just one show a night. If you have a second show, try to see that one as it will be less crowded.

I'd still recommend showing up around 30 min prior just to be safe. That's for a second show, if you go and there's only one show then I'd show up at least 45 min before showtime. People start entering the arena close to 2 hours prior for the first show

I'm wondering what will happen when Pandora opens. My guess is that there will be more people in the park at night, and the second shows will play to full audiences.

I'll be there in June as well, and I think I'll have to check back on these boards to see what the experience is like at that point. I would have to think that 2 shows is accurate at the moment for June dates. If AK is completely packed, I also wonder if they might consider adding a third ROL show on some nights.

I was thinking about an ROL dining package reservation to guarantee seats, but it appears that is already a hot ticket too.

We'll be at AK in about 3 weeks, and were planning on seeing Rivers of Light as standby, but I had no idea we had to arrive so early to get seats! We will have to plan accordingly if we can't snag FP+.

What! No dessert party!? Seriously, I'm going to try to snag a FP. Have FP been hard to come by? So this is not something you see from various points around the water? If that's the case, I'm really hoping there will be 2 shows a night come October.

Hmm, we are going at the end of January. There will likely only be one show (?)

Since that is after Pandora opens (which will make a major change in DAK attendance,) we don't know, yet.

45 minutes, give or take.
45 minutes prior to show time, or 45 minutes prior to fastpass window opens (8:05pm)? My window is 8:05-8:30. Was thinking of getting there 7:55. I will be traveling alone with my 9 year old daughter. I don't want to have her standing around waiting too long.

45 minutes prior to show time...

Yes.

And, BTW, I am being conservative with my answer.
I, myself, would arrive at least an hour before show time.
(Which is what I have done for Fantasmic! for over a decade.)

FP for RoL has been a hot item ever since it debuted. It's usually gone well in advance.

While it is on the water, most of the view from outside the arena seating is blocked by walls and trees. There's a couple spots you can view it from, but people get there long before the show starts

Our fp is for 8:35-9:00. If we show up an hour before showtime will we have to sit in the standby area or will we be able to sit in the fp area?

There's no reason you'd have to sit in the standby area.

The FP return time is simply a suggestion of when to show up. You can enter the FP area as soon as they open up the arena, which is usually about an hour and 45 min- 2 hours prior to showtime (For the first show).
