I have always felt that she was trying to self medicate her mental health issues, so hearing that drugs and/or alcohol was in her system does not surprise me. I was not a fan of her movies (just not my type of films) but I saw a fragility in her that made me sad. I feel especially heartbroken for her 13 year old son. RIP

I feel this way too. She was an attempted murderer in my eyes. The world is now a safer place.

It's so similar to that nurse in LA who killed 6 people recently.

All deaths are sad for the family. I don't feel any more sadness for Ms Heche than any other death that occurs daily. This goes for most celebrities I hear about. There are multiple deaths in my area every day, children, mothers, fathers, etc. All sad. I have lost people close to me.

She was an underrated actress. I realize that a soap opera is a joke to many people but her work on Another World was crazy good (played twins - total soap opera nonsense!)

I am beyond relieved that besides the trauma the occupant of the home - and those who tried to help - will have to relive, what a flippin' miracle no one was killed. How insanely fortunate, given the circumstances.

I also remember her strength standing up to Oprah. That was a time period where people were expected to label themselves as gay or straight. And she just refused to do it.

Anyone who is a fan of the Doug Loves Movies podcast knows the crazy (drug issues?) runs deep with AH. It's sad it came to this, but this was the road she was on and there is nothing anyone could do about it. As others have said, we are all lucky - the outcome could have been worse.
