Chapter 9 – Epcot Morning and Hidden Mickey’s - Part 2


Since we still had some time before the DISmeet, Andrew and I decided to head back and use our FPs for Soarin' and see what else we could ride and look for more HMs. On the way to The Land Pavilion we passed these guys.

After riding Soarin' and again taking note of the two HMs in the Pre-show and the four HMs during our flight, we decided to take a quick ride on Living With the Land. There are numerous HMs to be found here, and they start quickly in the loading area as the ride begins.

There are always some interesting plants to see and information to be learned during this ride.

Monstera........I would expect this to be bigger.........or scarier looking???

Who knew the Water Lily was completely edible??? Wonder if that is with or without the frog sitting on it???

A Hidden Mickey

The famous Nine Pound Lemons. Some of these just don't look the part, but at least there is more than one this time.

There are a few other Hidden Mickey's on this ride but I was either looking the wrong way, or just missed them. Oh well, I guess another excuse to go back and find some more.........

My next DIS meet was getting close, as they had made it in the park through the International Gateway, so Drew and I headed towards World Showcase so we could meet up. Time for one more picture at my favorite Epcot fountain......

As we left the fountain and started towards World Showcase I hear a voice say Marv??? I look up and there is the person I was planning to meet this day. Okay, don't spoil it for the others who may read along after you, but who can figure out from this picture who I am finally getting to meet??? (It's a real toughie!!!)

do you think the one in hte lab with the test tubes is a permanet one? or one they change around...dont know if i have ever seen that.

We rode the Land this summer and all of my HM pictures are blurry because I didn't see them until we were mostly past them. Oh well.

I have seen that one on other occasions. I think it is permanent (but easy to change obviously), although it isn't unusual for the Imagineers to add and remove them at times.

I saw a few others but was too far past them already. By the time I got the camera around and tried to focus I knew it would be a waste of time! I guess we both need to go back sometime.........

Um Where are your pictures??? I know during the show it is almost impossible to get any but you can surely get the preshow--- Another reason for a trip back I guess.

Funny because I don't ever think about taking pictures of the videos. Not sure why; maybe that just seems wrong in my mind somehow??? Still shots of videos.....

Guess I need to do a better job of learning from your TRs and get lots of pictures of everything so I have lots more to post when I do my updates! Or at least when some of them come out bad, plenty to choose between!!!

Chapter 10 – Another DIS Meet


My next DIS meet was getting close, as she had made it into the park through the International Gateway, so Drew and I headed towards World Showcase so we could meet up. Time for one more picture at my favorite Epcot fountain......

As we left the fountain and started towards World Showcase I hear a voice say Marv??? I look up from my conversation with Drew and there is Tanya (mom3sonstt), the person I was on the way to meet up with. She had texted and knew where we were, so she had headed our direction. I wasn't expecting to find her yet so she caught me a little by surprise. After a recent successful kidney transplant, it was great to finally meet Tanya and see her moving around so well.

We exchanged pleasantries, and then of course as all DISers know, if you don't get a picture it didn't happen!!!

Drew is getting to be quite the little photographer when it comes to documenting DISmeets and since he had done this before, he knew exactly what was expected.......

Since we were headed towards World Showcase, Tanya got back on her scooter and rode along with us as we continued to chat. She explained she was already feeling much better after her transplant, and the good news was that when we got to an area we wanted to stop and tour, she was able to park her scooter and actually walk around with us, which I thought was wonderful!

As we headed into World Showcase it had pretty much just "opened" and there was hardly anyone there. We made it to the United Kingdom and stopped outside the Rose and Crown to look around and decide what we wanted to do. Drew and I let Tanya know about our mission of finding Hidden Mickeys and she was fine with following us around as we did so. As I was standing there surveying the area, Tanya pulled out her cell phone. She searched through her numbers until she found what she was looking for.

Tanya mentioned the phone booths nearby and as I looked that way, I knew exactly what she was up to. There was a small group standing near the phones, ranging from older teens to maybe early 20s. As the phone began to ring, you could see them all look that way and then look around at each other. One of the older girls walked to the booth, opened the door, and answered the phone. Tanya spoke to her and then asked if Marv was there, as I walked a little distance away trying to act inconspicuous while still watching the reaction. The young lady looked around the area and told Tanya she didn't think so. Tanya insisted that Marv was supposed to be there that day and should be nearby somewhere. Finally she turns around and loudly asks........Is Marv here???

Imagine here surprise as I turn towards her and say.........I'm Marv......... She tells me there is a phone call for Marv from a Tanya, as I slowly walk towards her trying to also act confused. When I reach her she asks if I know Tanya and I tell her I know A Tanya. I take the phone from her and step into the booth, as she unashamedly stands there staring and obviously wanting to hear this conversation, while the rest of her friends are standing nearby just as bewildered.

This is Marv.....................TANYA! Wow, great to hear from you!!!

Eyes outside the booth get wider, and confused looks continue to spread. I carry on a little bit more of a conversation with Tanya and then finally tell her it was good to talk to her and say goodbye. I walk out of the booth and the whole group is just standing there staring at me. I look at the young lady who handed me the phone and tell her that it was indeed the Tanya I know. She started asking partial questions she never completed.......Who? What? How??????

At that moment I couldn't take it anymore and fought back laughter. I pointed to where Tanya was standing and finally said "As a matter of fact, there she is right over there." It only took an instant for this little group to know they had been had, as I explained it completely to them. They were still laughing and joking about their unsuspecting DISmeet with Tanya and Marv as they headed off towards Canada.

I had read a few times on the DIS where people posted about prank calls to the phone booths in the UK, but this was the first time I had the chance to participate. Thanks to Tanya I got to enjoy this fun and special Disney memory.

The phone call behind us, we quickly turned our attention back to locating some HMs. Here was an easy one that was nearby.

We went into the shop and of course Drew focused in on his favorite...........soccer jerseys!!!

From the UK we headed into France. As we crossed the bridge I stopped to get this picture.

I wonder how many people are so focused on getting across that bridge that they never even notice the work of the Disney Imagineers???

Once in France we quickly located this HM in the hedges.......

Moving on to Morocco, we located this very familiar HM we have seen on previous trips.

And Drew got to pose with this new find.

As we continued on to Japan, we still weren't having to fight the crowds.

Another really cool HM!

The crowds are still low as we approach the United States pavilion.

It was a rather quiet morning; nothing too exciting to speak of. But that was about to change......................

Nice low crowds. That's why I like Oct. Cool and you can really take your time and not have to worry about crowds.

For a DISmeet. Those are always fun.
