Does anyone know for sure which things are temporarily shut down during Wishes? And from what time to what time if Wishes is on at 10pm? And which rides are the best to ride during Wishes?~Thanks!

In December, we were in the new Fantasyland during Holiday Wishes and all rides were operating. It was extremely loud as the fireworks appeared to be directly overhead as we watched from Gaston's. The Barnstormer CM said she had become used to the loud explosions... it should be an OSHA issue in regards to future hearing loss.

I know Big Thunder Mountain is open. We rode it once while the fireworks were going and it was an experience to be riding outside with the fireworks in the sky!

Just a cool FYI about the loud explosions comment. On the Keys to the Kingdom tour, we were able to go through the utilidors, and they actually have a hearing screening room. Someone on the tour asked what it was for. It is for CM's that are in jobs that may cause hearing damage, and any CM can get tested whenever they want. I thought this was just a small gesture made by Disney to show they care about their employees.

Thanks for sharing! As a speech pathologist/hard of hearing specialist, I always notice noise levels. DD is on the Fantasmic island when lots of things are exploding... glad to know she can get assessed but precautionary earplugs would be best! :)

Last trip we had a FP+ for PP during Wishes. When we got there the CM told us that it was shut down for the fireworks (iasw was closed as well). I asked about our FP and she said to come back any time the rest of the night.

We also tried to sit outside at Pinocchios and were told that we couldn't during the fireworks. The CM said they were concerned about it being windy that night and possible fireworks fallout.

In its old location, Dumbo was the most amazing fireworks experience! (fireworks look even more 3-D while you are spinning around)

Now, Dumbo is not right in between the castle and background fireworks :(

I imagine the new Fantasyland is very loud. They used to say BTMRR was the loudest.

Had the pleasure of riding Splash Mtn during the first fireworks show of the evening last May. Dream come true. So awesome!

This is one my fondest memories. DS was 4 at the time; he and I got on Dumbo and just then Tinkerbell flew overhead (at least it seemed like it).
Looking up at the fireworks and then to see Tink fly away pixiedust:
It was truly a magic memory for us!

Another note: if it's deemed too windy the CM's will rope off a huge area
behind the castle with the carousel in the middle of the area.
They do put up large sandwich-type signs to alert you.
Once Wishes starts they will not let you through until the end.
That is what happened to us and hundreds of other guests caught on the "wrong" side of their tape.
When we were allowed to move DH spied a blasting cap from one of the fireworks.
As soon as he bent down to pick it up to look at it a male CM swept it away from his hand and scooped it up right before he grabbed it.
DH was amazed at how fast the guy reacted. :scratchin

Hmmm, that seems odd - wonder why they shut down PP and IASW, they are both totally enclosed and seem to be over a bit from the fireworks area. Especially when they used to let guests ride on Dumbo which is right there! :confused3

This is my favorite thing to do! Plus, the line for Splash Mountain is usually pretty short, so less wait time.

IF you can time it right, splash mountain is really cool to ride when wishes is going on. Astro orbiter is also neat as it gives you a great perspective.

Also, usually the rides that are farthest away from the castle have the best wait times. Thunder Mt., Splash MT, POTC

We were on Barnstormer last week when Wishes started - pretty cool vantage point :)

It depends on the wind. If the fallout zone includes that particular walkway it wouldn't be safe to have folks walking through it to get to the ride.

I'm sure the fireworks team has it all planned out based on wind speeds. When it comes time to set up they have the perimeter for that night planned out.
