Rides if your alittle bigger?

My soon to be sister-in-law and father-in-law are a little heavy. They are both concerned about getting on and off the rides in the parks. I know that I have a hard time getting on and off splash mountain and space mountain and I'm of avearge weight. I don't want them to miss out on some great rides because of their weight. Is there restrictions on weight for any rides or has any one had a bad experience with this? They don't want to wait in line and get up there and not be able to get on the ride.

My DH is "a little bigger", but don't tell him I said so! I don't think he's had any trouble with the rides. We have done most everything in MK except splash Mountain. Our only concern was on big Thunder Mountain. DH, me, and DS who was 7 and very skinny all rode together in one car. Obviously, when the safety bar comes down, it stops at the largest person. Well, needless to say, I had a death grip on my poor DS who very easily could have flown out since the bar was nowhere near him! The only other inconveinience is some of the turnstyles are a bit snug. Hope this helps

My ex b/f was 6'7" and 300lbs. he didn't have trouble with the rides. Space Mountain was a bit of a problem but more for his height. He got in the car okay, but trying to stand up to get out was funny to watch. He also had difficulty on HM (again due to height). Whacked his head on the top of the doom buggy, then the bar closed on his leg. The poor CM was trying so hard not to laugh.

My DH is 6'4 and a little over 400 and he went on everything. Had a little trouble on space mountain - he was in the very front and felt like he was going to fly out any moment.

He has not been on Aerosmith at mgm so that I do not know. We already figured out the safety bar would not come down far enough so he rides Thunder Mountain by himself in one of those seats, but got some looks on TOT because of the safety bar - from others so has not ridden since. I do not blame the other riders - it would bother me also.

The real trouble he always has is with getting into the rides with those turnstiles. So we know every way around them. Pirates - the CM always takes him in around the turnstiles - just a matter of moving some chains, HM we go in thru the handicap entrance and even in thru the front gate is not a problem - he goes where the strollers go thru.

I recommend that they sit in places where the total weight will be evened out.

Last time we went in It's a Small World, there was a heavy couple sitting all the way on one end, and everyone kept looking at them feeling the boat tipped in that direction. I am sure it was embarrassing to the poor people.

So, Disney knows that guests come in all shapes and sizes. If the CMs do not place heavier ones "strategically" in some attractions, offer to select your seat to balance out the weight if necessary. As far as I can recall, heavy people pretty much fit just about anywhere on those rides...

I am 330lbs and 5'6". The only area that I experienced any real problems with was at MK in the turnstiles to get into the Country Bears Jamboree. I made it through all the others, but that one got me. The only ride that I didn't really enjoy was the Star Wars at MGM, because I felt kinda squished in the seat. The animal kingdom ride "whirl" they put 2 people on each side of the car, I sat on the arm rest area the whole ride. Unless its 2 super models its unlikely 2 average american adults will fit comfortablely in these seats. Later on the fast pass I asked the guy to please allow us to seat 1 on each side because it was too tight, unless he had a child to put with us? 1 adult & child ok 2 adults NO. He was very nice, helpful, polite, & professional.

I'm a supersized person and I go on EVERY ride with no problem--even Rock 'n Rollercoaster (it's my favorite!). Just make sure to ask to sit in the front part of the car on that one--there's a little more leg room.

The turnstiles do get me every once in a while--Haunted Mansion and Pirates are about the worst. I make it through HM o.k, but for Pirates I have to unhook the chain and go that way.

Leaving first thing tomorrow morning! Can't wait to get away from the snow and cold!

My husband is large and he has no trouble on the rides except for getting out of Space Mountain. He loves riding RnR rollercoaster. He rides it over and over. He has trouble with the turnstyles too. On Dinosour, he usually stands, pull the seatbelt out and sits while he is locking the seatbelt.
