Hello fellow dis,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me the differences in rides between the east and west coast. We are staying one week at Universal Orlando but we will also have a few days available in California and was wondering if we should spend a day at Universal Hollywood.

Thanks

While the rides overlap, there are some differences in Hollywood. I'll try to summarize as best I can. The parks are different enough where I think Hollywood is worth going to for one day if your budget and time allow. Keep in mind that USH is one park but still has lots of walking since it's separated into two "lots," and it can take 10-15 minutes to go from the upper to the lower lot.
  • Exact same rides: Transformers, Simpsons, and all of Hogsmeade (including both Harry Potter rides, no Hagrid's at USH), Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
  • Similar rides: Mummy (Orlando's is better; the queues and track layouts are different but the essence is the same. Hollywood's still goes backwards), Jurassic World (this got updated a lot in Hollywood and has new scenes, Orlando's is still the classic Jurassic Park)
  • Unique rides/attractions: Kung Fu Panda Adventure, Studio Tour (worth the price of admission alone), WaterWorld Stunt Show, Secret Life of Pets, all of Nintendo World
I'd recommend doing a VIP tour in Hollywood if you can afford it. If not, definitely buy the early entry into Super Nintendo World so you can do the Mario Kart ride with lower waits (I'd get to the park 30-45 minutes before the early entry time starts so you really don't have to wait in line).
