Rider swap for scared 9 year old

This could be a legitimate use of the Rider Swap pass though. If the two kids riding are both tall enough but not yet 7 when they can ride alone, then the only way they could ride is with an adult. If it's a ride that mom can't ride because she's pregnant (likely, since Rider Swap rides are ones that have height restrictions and therefore the bigger rides that would have pregnancy restrictions), then the only way for both kids to ride would be to ride with dad. I can see a CM allowing Rider Swap in this circumstance.

I can't think of any rides that wouldn't seat one adult and two children unerring the age of 7.

I can't imagine putting two kids and one adult together on BTMRR, but then again, I've never tried it. I don't see anyway the 3 could sit together on the Barnstormer.

You can easily put two children and one adult on both.

you put the two kids together and then you sit right behind them. They let you do this.

No way in hey would I let my two sons ride in the same seat on BTMRR without me. Heck, even WITH me, one of my boys almost slipped under the bar and right out of the car.

The website seems pretty darn clear to me. It is NOT just for kids who don't meet the height requirement (how penalizing would that be for kids afraid to ride but feeling guilty about making mom or dad miss the ride??) and it's pretty easy to pull up the website right there at the attraction to let the CMs know.

Not if one is under 7.

Yes you can . If the adult is on the ride behind them. We did this on Barnstormer many times when my DS was well under 7. and on different days with different CM's. They all said as long as the adult is on the ride it is fine.

If the kid is tall enough to ride the ride I would let them ride with whoever they wanted, never had a problem and I had little skinny kids.

They can't let people who are just afraid to use child swap it isn't what it is there for and would be abused so fast and so badly it would make your head spin. Just how would they ever control that. They should leave it as it is or get rid of it all together, it is just a nicety and of course people have to try to get more out of it, till they force Disney to stop it.

They wouldn't let my 6 (she will be 7 on June 1) ride in a car with my 12 year old niece and us behind them. They reset the ride and made us switch. This was on Thursday last week.

The website is clear. The CMs aren't being trained that way. Truly, that's not how they are being trained. And while the website will SHOW them what is being told to guests, and while I think it should be shown, I doubt it will change a CM who simply wasn't trained that way.

Kids tend to slip on BTMRR because they are smaller than the lap bar. If two kids are riding they can make it smaller, generally, than when there's an adult with them, and they aren't as likely to slip.

But you will notice how they are sitting, and how the man isn't back against the seat and neither is the boy. They are sort of one in front of the other.

I agree with that. When the new park entrance age requirements and age requirements came out, after the initial kerfluffle I believe it ended up being only rides like TSMM, where you cannot see the others in your car, that don't allow younger ones to be in a ride vehicle without being right next to an adult.

And, again, we're looking at CM training. Let's face it. Anyone who has ever worked knows that some people pay attention in training and some don't!

My daiughter is 9 but terrified to go on any roller coasters, log flumes etc etc, while my 7 year old can't get enough. I was trying to read up on the rider swap but can't seem to get a straight answer. I would have to stay with my daughter while my husband and son go on a ride. Is it possible for me to get a rider swap even though my daughter will be tall enough for all the rides, she just refuses to go on any??? On the website it said yes, but I saw some posts where people were told no...

My son is 8 and daughter 7. he is the chicken. For splash mountain he did the chicken exit thing. And waited by the loading zone. Imwas freaking out for him only because the ride is like well over ten minutes. I have no problem him waiting alone that long, but we all thought we'd be right back. So tell DD it will be a good 15 mi utes. BMRR is fast but i believe the unloading is opposite from loading??. So maybe she better wait at the outside exit.

Or another good idea is to let child pass through and just wait in the post ride exit shops. She is busy browsing and contained.

Have her try barnstormer. Good ride for scared kids. It short and open, no surprises as you see what it coming next. The not knowing scares alot od people

The website says for those that don't want to ride but in reality that's not how it works. I have a ride chicken and we've never been given a child swap after he was past the height requirements. I've even had to get out of the ride after loading several times and still were never offered. After about age 8 he started walking through the lines and taking the exit at the end and waiting for us.

We have successfully done the child swap with our then 9 year old on several rides in pre FP+. On Space Mountain we went through the line with the family, and then were given a "swap" pass and peeled off to a side room. When the rest finished, they picked us up and I rode along with a reride for two children. On Splash Mountain, they had the child cross through the vehicle and stand waiting off to the side on the exit side of the boats. On Rock n Roller coaster, we were given swap passes at the entrance, waited in the store, then I went through the FP entrance, again with a reride for two children. Star Tours was the same. This was last fall.

Heck, I go through ToT and RRC and SM with the kids, then take the chicken exit with my now 25 yo on ToT, and by myself on the other two... no way will I ever ride Space Mountain again in my lifetime, and the other two just freak me out... there are "chicken" exits for a reason.

As a parent who has used Child Swap extensively for years with my two kids, we have ALWAYS been asked to see the child before they would issue the pass and a few times they did measure to make sure he was too small. Since I still have a 21 month old, we actually are using child swap to our advantage to get around tiering at Epcot and DHS. So there are some pretty significant advantages to it that would very quickly be taken advantage of especially in tiered parks if they let anyone who was "scared" use it. I just don't see that happening except on very rare instances.

Before I get flamed though (for using Child Swap as a strategy to get around tiering) please understand that this is NO picnic for anyone except my DS8 because whichever adult waits with my toddler will pay dearly, trust me :faint: He loves rides and is not happy when he can't participate. I also have very tall kids so they will hit the heigh requirement very early for some rides they may or may not be ready for maturity wise and we will be in "doesn't want to ride but tall enough" boat as well once he turns 2 and hits 40" (he's close now and my older DS hit 40" at 2 year 4 months). I still do not think the policy should be for kids who make the height requirement though.

We've been told by multiple cast members on the Barnstormer that my 5 year old can't ride with my 7 year old even if we are in the row behind them. We specifically asked once, and were told no.

We've also been told multiple times that it is not allowed even though we weren't trying to do it. On at least 3 occasions when telling the cast member there are 4 in the party, they have asked the ages of my kids. When we told them 7 and 5, they've said to make sure the 5 year old sits with an adult.

I wish I had a printed brochure with me to scan and post, but it really DOES contradict what it says on the web site.

Done this many many times on BTMR, Splash, Haunted mansion even barnstormer! and many others. I am a single mom and often visit with my dd's so we often ride together as a 3 esp when they were younger.

On Big Thunder, 2 kids and 1 adult is easily do-able.
On the other hand, 2 adults and 1 kid is very cramped and uncomfortable.

On Barnstormer, 2 kids and 1 adult may be possible if both kids are under 5 or 6 years old, but it will still be tight.
2 adults and 1 kid would be virtually impossible with even average sized adults.

I have a 7 year old and two 3 year olds. What is the actual policy on the 7 year old riding both times (with each of us) while the other adult waits with younger ones? Some CMs actually ask if he would like to ride again with other adult and some won't allow it. Not sure which is right.
