RideMax Users Thread (FAQs Linked in First Post!)

This is why I'm hesitant to purchase this. I'd rather drop another $20 into my DD's piggy bank for spending money rather than putting that time, money and effort into making an itinerary that may not work!

You said it's worked before, but this time it didn't - did you request your money back? Having a wait be twice as long as they said sounds like grounds for that. I can see that it's not ALL their fault, though .. I guess I'm asking because I'm wondering how good they are at refunding money if you DON'T feel like it was worth it.

I'm on the fence right now about getting it. I usually do all the research myself and plan a tentative schedule (my DH would rather not - he doens't like having a strict "plan") but we both know that it's not the WDW it was when we last went, way before free dining and a preschooler coming with us :)

No I won't be asking for my money back, I don't feel the need to. Sure the plans may not have been spot on, but I did get other info out of it and it has helped me to understand the theory behind the order to do rides in. For our next trip (Christmas 2010) I doubt I would order ridemax again, but this is mainly because I feel I understand how to tour Disney parks well enough without needing a touring plan.

Just wanted to say I was at Disney Aug 22-Aug 31 and I purchased and used ridemax and it was AMAZING!!

We only used it to plan parts of our days for some days (ie a morning at MK with all the fantasy land rides then left the rest of the day free)
and on somedays we used it for the whole day and it was ALWAYS right or the lines were shorter then what was on the sheet! The tips were so so helpful!

DBF and I were both a little hesitant to try it at first because we were unsure if it would work, or if we wanted our day on a schedual like that but we were so so happy we got it and are 100% satified and will definitly use it again on our next trip!! We got to do everything we wanted to do and even got to see most of the big rides twice by getting extra FPs here and there and we sometimes added in a ride or two if a line was really short or stopped and saw characters etc. we found as long as we did the rides in order suggested and around the time suggested it worked perfectly! We didnt feel rushed or annoyed to follow a schedual at all, we didnt follow it to a tee we just used the general order they suggested and it worked!! In fact DBF who was most hesitant actually said he wished he had ridemax on the days we went to SeaWorld and Universal :rotfl:.

One thing to keep in mind, we found it to be alot of walking from one end of the park to the other so it might not be good for people who dont want to walk all over or who have little ones but for us (two twenty-somethings) we were fine with it! I think there is a "slow" option on ridemax that keeps you in the same area tho.. so that might be a solution to cut down on some walking?

Bottomeline: WE LOVE RIDEMAX!

We used the slow mode for our family during our trip in july and it definitely didn't have us rushing back and forth around the park. I thought it was really reasonable for the walks it had us do and we always made them in less time than RM predicted.

Me too!!! When I wrote them awhile back they said the 15th... :)

Not patiently waiting the November update here. Three times a day I am checking to see if they have updated yet. :surfweb:

/
I am losing patience as well, checking all the time!

When I clicked on the Ride Max program, it gave me a message that November hours will be out by the end of the day tomorrow!

I know I was going to try and stay awy form the dis for awhile but.... it's so hard with our trip coming up soon!

;)

November Hours planning is ready on Ridemax!! Going to plan! :)

Yay!! I'm going to update my ridemax subscription today. Thanks for the info

Two quick questions for all you RideMax folks...

First - if I subscribe to it, can I only access it on the computer I download it to? I work 3 nights/week, and would like to be able to use it here at work. But I don't want to download it here, as I'm never on the same computer twice. Do I need to download it at home - and if I do, can I access the info here at work??

Second - my DH and I used to really organize our park schedule, and so I thought RideMax would be really good for us. But our next trip, we're trying to not be as focused on what/when we ride things and where we go, we're trying to be a bit for flexible and relaxed about it. Do you think using RideMax would still help us, as far as having an idea what order to do stuff, if we want to follow it, or would it be a waste of time for a trip like that??

Thanks for any advice...

A RideMax subscription allows you to download the program onto 2 computers. You can definitely download it both to a home computer and to a work computer, but it would need to be a consistent work computer, which doesn't sound like that would be the case. You can't access the info at work, other than (1) looking at saved files (in html or xls format) from previous runs or (2) using remote desktop or logmein to connect to your home computer.

I can't answer your second question, exactly, but it sounds more like info that you would get from touringplans/the Unofficial guide or TGM.

Just wanted to say to any newbies out there I LOVED,LOVED, LOVED RIDMAX. I have fibromyalgia and have trouble getting around, standing too long etc. Only twice in 7 days did we wait more than 5 minute to ride and we were always walking a resonable distance to get to things!!! WE went in May and it was terrific , spot on for wait times even those that I thought were impossible. It was my 6th visit and I always used unoffical guide to have a plan. This was my first trip with kids.

It also solved the arguments my kids would have had. Not one fight between DD,DS,DD the entire trip!!!:cool1:. They didnt want to wait in line and knew we had put their favorite things on the lineup so they just followed the list!!:worship: No fights for a week was worth the price right there. Only problem I had was with the light parade we started seeing people line up 40 minutes before our suggested time. Maybe because there was only one spectro magic that week.

So, I decided to try RideMax just for the heck of it, see what it told me to do vs. what we normally do... we're usually able to get on everything we'd like to get on, but maybe not in the most efficient way possible.

This question then is for those of you who've ordered it and actually used the plans... did you find that most of them completely went against stuff you would have done otherwise??

We never hit Fantasyland first when we go to MK... we always go to Adventureland/Frontierland and ride/get FP's for those rides, then make our way to F'land and T'land. Our RM plans had us heading to F'land first... not really what we'd enjoy doing, as we like to hit our favorites (PoC, BTMRR, JC, HM) first thing so we know we can get on them again later. We then go do the things we don't mind doing only once.

For AK, we always do the safari first, as the animals are so much more lively in the AM than in the heat of the day... and the wait is never long. But RM has us headed to DinoLand first -- our least favorite part of AK -- and not going to the safari until like noon. ??

Lastly, we're hitting MK at 6pm one night, as it's open 'till 11pm, and we want to be at AK during the day as we know MK will be busy all day b/c of the late hours and folks who don't "hop". I put in about 6 rides, Spectro and Wishes, and RM said it wasn't manageable. (The rides were Buzz, PoC, HM, Laugh Floor, BTMRR, Splash) I've done that much in far less than 5 hrs... on a Saturday no less! So, I can't figure out why it would think it wasn't do-able.

I like playing with RM, as it gives me some ideas, tips and the times of the rides, as well as guesstimated waits... but not sure I'm actually going to follow the plans to the letter, as we've honestly never had bad waits or problems doing what we'd like to do.

Anyone else felt this way about the way the plans come out for them??

Thx for any input... :goodvibes

I agree 100%

I used it for our trip back in August (2nd & 3rd week). It was alot of fun to play with, but sometimes parts of the plan would leave me scratching my head. Not that a particular plan was bad. For every plan that made me scratch my head, I would take a closer look & understand WHY it gave me the plan that it did - I just didn't always feel that was the best for me. Sometimes I would pick up a new touring idea from the plan, and sometimes I would just think "well, I understand why it wants me to do "X" - and it would work to do "X" - but I've had better success doing "Y".

My best example is probably getting a fast pass first thing in the morning. Sometimes the plan would have me arrive at rope-drop, but not get my first fast pass until after 10am. Well forget that - if I'm there at rope drop, I can take 2 extra minutes to grab an extra set of fast passes for one of the headliners.

Dont get me wrong - I felt that every plan that it gave me was a good plan, and I still would recommend the program. Especially for anyone that just wants a "plug & play" touring plan. I had a lot of fun playing with it & I feel I got my money's worth.

I think all of the plans my DW and I made for our trip this past August had parts that seemed odd. I guess the idea that parts of the plans were against conventional wisdom is what helps avoid the crowds. DW and I agreed to follow them and were often scratching our heads but found that in all cases Ridemax was accurate. We were often to the minute or ahead of the plan. The oddest one we had was rope drop at MK and Ridemax had us head to PoC and then to Thunder before even getting a FP to Splash. But it was accurate we went one way and the crowds went the other! The only issues there we ran into was a day at DHS when Indiana Jones was not performing and it threw off the crowd flow.
