This will be DS3 second trip to Disney. I believe he is tall enough for SDMT. We are going to DHS first, and our second day is MK.

Is there a ride that we can take him on that will give us some indication whether or not he would enjoy it. I know he'd 100% want to go because his older sisters are, but I also know that DH has a very low tolerance for, well, any ride. So far the four girls do not take after him, but I don't want to make the little dude sick or make him less likely to try other rides if it scares him.

Thank you!!

Has he been on Barnstormer at MK? It is much smaller but considered a beginner roller coaster. If he is scared of that then I would definately say he would be scared of Mine Train.

No, we can try that, but my goal was to rope drop Mine Train, so he wouldn't be able to ride Barnstormer first.

Also, I love rollercoasters, but I'm not a huge fan of that one. Too jerky to me.

I was hoping there'd be a ride at DHS by which I could gauge his reactions. Ordinarily, I would take him to a carnival or fair over the summer, but that didn't happen this year for obvious reasons.

There is Slinky Dog Dash at DHS.

I've not been on it yet - I know my oldest two are really looking forward to it. Would you say it is more intense or less intense than SDMT? I really appreciate all of your help!!

Hmmmm. That is tough. I think they are similar in intensity. Both are family friendly roller coasters but I don't have experience taking a child that young on it. My son had just turned 5 when we went; he loved all the coasters (he road every coaster except primival whirl and rock n roller coaster) I actually preferred Slinky Dog to Mine Train. Slinky Dog is smooth but fairly fast.

The seats on SDMT are very body-hugging, so I personally think it’s as good as any for a first coaster. Same length as Barnstormer but no sliding around in the seat. Give it a shot!

We took our then DD2 (10 days shy of being 3) on SDMT and she loved it. I just don't know if he will as well. Thanks for all the advice!!

I agree that Slinky Dog would be the one ride at DHS that would give you an indication of his enjoyment of (or dislike for) roller coasters. The track is visibly elevated (it’s very obvious you’re up in the air, no illusion of riding on a mountain like on SDMT), but otherwise I think Slinky Dog is similar in speed and intensity.
