We are at Animal Kingdom right now and have a LL for SDD at 2 pm. SDD has been down all day, so I'm not hopeful it will come back up before our LL window closes.

I understand that we should get any anytime pass in it's place if the ride is still down, but do we have to actually show up to the ride to get the pass? Or even be in the park?

It was an early morning and the rest of our booked LLs are later in the evening - might prefer to take a break for a couple of hours if we're not going to get to ride.

Sorry that happened to you. Don't know the answer but it seems like rides are going down with a high frequency lately. Does anyone know the cause? For the first time ever, Disney had an extended time where the parks were closed which would have allowed them time to perform maintenance on all of them. Seems like they didn't take advantage of that. I hope you do end up getting to ride.

If the ride is down at your return tme, you will get an any-time G+ in your MDE to be used a that park any time of that day. No need to go to the attraction to get the pass.. There are exceptions for where it can be used.

That happened to us. We got an experience pass in MDE. We just walked up to TOT and scanned right in. No need to book it ahead of time. Just use it whenever you want (provided the attraction isn't excluded). I'm assuming you can't use it for the paid ILL.

One time I noticed that an easy to book ride in Epcot was down about an hour prior to Epcot closing. I was eligible to book another LL and I was not in Epcot, so I booked it just to see what would happen. The ride was still down when my window opened and it turned into a one-time redemption pass that was valid the next day on most G+ rides at any park.

Yes, the pass that I got excluded all of the ILL rides and a handful of others like Slinky and Peter Pan.

Thanks for the responses! We did indeed get an anytime LL when our window opened at 2 pm, while we were still at Animal Kingdom. And SDD finally came back online maybe half an hour ago, so we are set for this evening... although I expect even the LL line will be a pretty long wait with all those deferred passes from this morning.

I've never had SDD go down on me when I had an LL or FP, but I would be surprised if the ride that had broken down was excluded.
I got a redemption pass from it yesterday and it was not excluded. It was valid on anything in HS except Mickey and Minnie’s, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, and the meet and greets. I also got one from Rock n Roller Coaster that was valid on anything except Slinky, Tower of Terror, Rise, and the meet and greets but it was surprisingly valid on Mickey and Minnie’s. It seems what exactly is included depends on what ride it comes from but it will always be valid no matter what on the ride it comes from

Definitely not a good time to ride standby - currently showing a 180 minute wait.
Lol I used LL today when standby was 180 minutes… and based on what I saw it was probably accurate 😬

Lol I didn’t realize it was down all morning until reading this thread! I was able to get a LL for SDD today because I didn’t end up using mine yesterday (it’s complicated but long story short there were unlimited breakdowns yesterday) and the lightning lane was INSANE! I used it around 3 or 3:30 and it was still less than half an hour… I definitely feel bad for the cast members that have to deal with all this though… having to tell people for hours that it’s down and disappointing them and then trying to deal with the inevitable stampedes after it reopens. One lady was screaming at a cast member because she had to park her stroller and then got in the wrong line. I felt so bad for that poor cast member 😬
