What a tragic event that happened yesterday to Rhyl Cycling Club, I was a cyclist for many years and this has absolutely stunned me. I didnt know anybody at the club but all cyclists past and present feel like a family and will all feel some loss today.

I have sent my sympathies on this morning. I hope they can find some justice from this tragic event.

:sad1:

Hadn't been reported in our news so I searched it out.
Very tragic :sad2:

Very sad ~ At the moment it just seems to be a tragic accident and nothing to do with driver error.

a truelly awful accident!
my nana went to school with of the victims! she's pretty upset especailly as she lost her husband last monday!
i live not all that far from abergele!

This is a very tragic collision, however to say that it was not driver error is entirely false. The driver lost control on a bend in ICY conditions, therefore he was driving too fast for those conditions. Hypothetically he could have been doing 40 in a 60 limit, but was too fast for the conditions at the time.

I hope that he is prosecuted and jailed for a long time, the families who have lost loved ones in this horrible situation will want answers.

the police said it wasnt the drivers fault, he wasnt over the speed limit and hadnt been drinking.just a tragic accident.-black ice.
this has affected a few families around here.

Ok, so the only two reasons for being proesecuted are drink driving or driving over the speed limit???

This driver has just killed 4 people, and injured 8. He was driving faster than the conditions allowed. End of story. As I said previously, the driver is at all times 100% responsible for the vehicle , only mechanical failure can over ride this during an accident i.e. a tyre blow out etc.

Adverse external conditions must be taken into account and not used as an excuse. Black ice is lethal, that is true, but there is the probability that had he been driving slower, this would not have happened.

Driving below the speed limit, does not mean that you cannot be held to blame for killing someone through poor driving.

All the police are doing is removing driver responsibility. I am amazed at their attitude on this one.

I feel for the families, this is a horrific incident. I am sure that the community is doing their upmost to get through this.

I'm not getting into a who's fault argument with you.
All that matters now is the families that are left behind.

awfull accident my thoughts are with the drivers family and the familys that have lost someone, black ice is an awfull thing, and its not something you see till your on it, trust me I wrote my first car off at 25mph on black ice

Ste sorry to hear this :grouphug: to you and your Nana, for both recent losses.

Claire ;)

My thoughts and prayers are with the familys of the victims and the driver and his family. This was an awful accident and i can't immagine what anyone involved is going through.

Steve i hope your nan is ok it is awful when you loose someone.

What a tragic accident, and so sad for the families. That poor man not only was injured himself but witnessed his own sons death, that will live with him forever no doubt.

Our thoughts are with them

The boy who was killed in this tragedy was the son of our friends and a classmate of my DD. It has been a been a desperately sad week for all concerned, and our hearts go out to the poor families of all involved.

I am going to try and get to lay some flowers there, wish i still had a bike and was fit enough to ride there.
