Before I begin I understand that no room requests are guaranteed but:-

We're staying at Beach club (studio) and SSR (1BR) in August.
I've had my confirmation letters for both stays but I have only asked for 'non-smoking' as my special request.

Is it too late to go back and request other preferences?
Specifically, I was thinking of numbering them in order of importance to me:-
1. Non-Smoking
2. Non H/capped
3. dedicated room
4. Particular views/floors for each resort.

Do I ring for these or can it be done through e-mail and would I get a revised confirmation letter posted to me?

Thanks for any info....

I wouldn't bother. The non-handicap request should not be a request, just ask when you check in to be sure. The only rooms that are dedicated are two bedrooms. You have to have two so that one room can be either a lock off or attached directily(dedicated). It is August, I would just enjoy what you get just as long as it is non-smoking.

yes, you can make request at any time - no, unless you askfor it you won't be given a new confirmation (you reservation has not change just you request)

Actually this can be a big issue for some. If I understand your post, you're saying you won't get a HC room unless you ask for it and that's definitely not true. If I misunderstood your post, I apologize. There are way more HC rooms than needed at this time so it's not uncommon that someone will have to have a HC room that doesn't need it and doesn't want it. This can be a problem with young kids due to the roll in shower and wet floors.

Personally I'd go back and amend the requests at least 2 weeks before your trip. I'd then reiterate them at check in and make certain about the ones most important to you.

Actually, I don't know if you CAN make a request at any time. Originally I was told to wait until 4 days before our trip to HH to make a view request, then someone suggested to go ahead and have it typed into the reservation. I spoke to a very rude man at HH today who gave me a a hard time. He kept reminding me that we are arriving in Sept. and it is only July!!! I think he was just trying to avoid the effort of typing something. And I heard that HH employees were so nice! I am sure most of them probably are, but humans prone to being rude just like anyone else. I never did get to make my request, better luck to you!

DVC has requested in a member newsletter that all room requests be made through member services, you should not call or fax the resort. That's probably why the HH castmember would not do it.

I was told that dedicated or lockoff was not a request, it was actually reserved. I tried to request a dedicated 1 bedroom at BWV and was told my reservation was already setup as dedicated. All 5 times I stayed at BWV I had dedicated 1 bedrooms (no lockoff door). I think someone posted last week that there are no dedicated studios or 1 bedrooms at SSR, all are lockoffs.

Put your requests in order of imporatance.

Personally I think anything more then two is pushing it. You are just giving the room assignor the ability to pick and choose. So you could wind up with smoking, handicapped, but on with your chosen view.
On a 1 bedroom, I don't understand why a Handicapped shower would be an issue. You still have the tub for the kids. I can see it on a studio.
