Ok. I had a thread like this a while back but it had to be closed becasue too many people were debating over who's religion was better, or how stupid peopel were for beleiving in God, so please dont post any of that stuff.

I just want to know how many people think we are in Reveltion, or close to the second return of Jesus. I kow alot of people that do and I would like to get other people's opinions. Thanks

I respect those who hold this view, but I do not share it. My view is that we will never know the day of his coming, or even if it is near. So many people have used Revelation over the years to predict the second coming of Christ, but all have been wrong. The most recent case I can think of was abook called the Late Great Planet Earth.

I am not even certain the Revelation is talking about the end times. The is a good argument that can be made the much of this appoclyptic book canned be viewed as a commentary on the people end events at the time the book was written.

Regardless of who'se interpretation is correct, I don't think Revelation is clear enough to make accurate predictions. The appocolypic style (popular at the time The Revelation of John was written) does not lend itself to clarity. I prefer just to live my life following Christ as best I can every day, and leave the interpretation of signs and portents to those who feel called to do so.

I love to read it, watch it, debate and listen to it. I am a "Good VS Evil" FAN! Love it soooo much.

Is it real? I say no. But it is sure fun to think that it might be.

If my friend, Trish, were reading this she would correct you and say it is "Revelation" (not Revelations with an 's'). I made that mistake - several times actually - and she corrects me.

We're doing a year long study of the Book of Revelation in our Sunday school class taught by our pastor who did an intensive study. We haven't even actually gotten into the book itself but have spent the last few weeks talking about millianilism. And today was very interesing because I learned that the word "anti-Christ" is only used 4 times in the Bible - never in Revelation. So much of what we (general public) know about the end times is not even biblical.

I agree with WDWHound in that to really know what the stories are about in Revelation you should also know what was going on with the early church at the time it was written. The book was written for them, but as with all of the Bible, I also believe its contents is relevant to us today.

Are we in the end times?? Don't know and wouldn't want to speculate about God's will and plan for me. Jesus has given me a clear message of how he wants me to live my life on earth right now and offers me eternal life no matter what events I live through/endure on earth.

I agree with you on the first part. I don't think we are near Reveltaions. Back in the Middle Ages so amyn people were sure that the wrold is ending, and they truned out they were wrong. I think that is what's happening again.

I dont understand why you don't think Revelations is talking about the second return though?

And just a little trivia: The song 'Joy to the World' wasn't written to be a Christmas Carol, it was about the second return of Jesus.

We are studying Reveltions in my Sundey class now too. Revelations is a very interesting book, and it's very hard to understand. I think that is God had intended for us to understand, then it would have been written for us to understand. So it keeps me thinkg obout Revelation. What all of the confusing things are. Like the locasts with crowns that people think are helicopters.

I’m not a biblical scholar by any sense of the word, but one thing I do know, when the rapture occurs and all good Christians rise to Heaven to be with Jesus, I’m taking your stuff!

Take care of my cat!

I agree that we don't know the day and time of the return of Christ, but I do think we could be nearing the end times. I don't think that the tribulation period has started yet. JMHO

The word mystery comes to mind. Will anyone really know until we stand before Him??

Personally I think Revelation paints a picture of Heaven. The way worship is, has always been and will alway be, before the Throne of God.

If God is 'out' of time as we understand it... He can be living past, present and future all at once. So 'The Lamb' is being sacrificed at the same 'time' Christ is rising to glory at His Father's right hand, and the same time He is 'comming again in glory'.

Likewise, the martyrs can be beneath the throne crying "How long" at the same time there are still martyrs being made and the same time Christ is already returning to vidicate them.

I love the idea that it is all too big for my finite mind to totally grasp!

I believe we are in the end times and that the second coming of Christ is very soon. But I don't really get that from the book of Revelation.

I don't understand Revelation very well although I probably have a bit better grasp on it since my dh has started teaching on prophesy in our weekly bible studies (dh is a bible study teacher). I know I understand the book of Daniel much better but we haven't covered much of Revelation yet.

What do you mean by that? You can have my stuff, non of it coud be compared to what I'll get in Heaven, but are you saying you don't plan on going to Heaven?

That is a very good point. I never thought of that. It's like in God's eyes Disneyland could be opening at this very moment while Im sitting here typing on my computer. It says that one million years is but a blink of an eye to the Lord in the Bible, so I see your point My two favorite books in the Bible are Genesis and Revelation. Those two jsut really get ya thinking.

I agree. And that message isn't just found in the book of Revelation but through out the Old and New Testaments.

I was always taught that there is a special blessing for those who study Revelation. I wish you well on your endeavor.

I don't believe in the End Times, Armageddon or anything of the sort. I'm not Christian though

Sure - we don't know for sure either way, so the end could be near. I'll be left here, but that's OK. There might be less traffic and I might be able to watch a movie in peace.

You're right! Rev 1:3 says there is a blessing for those who read it and those who listen! (And I need all the blessing I can get!)

Yea it does say that. I think in Ch.10:9 it says something along the lines of "Belsses is he who reads thi" something like that. I don't kn ow if it means you will get a blessing right after you read it, or when Jesus comes back. It's interesting to think about though.

I heard a joke the other day that I thought some people might like.

A man climbed on the highest mountain he could find to talk to God. Finally when he is close enough to speak to him the guy asks God "God, what does one million dollars mean to you?" God replies "only a penny" then the guy says "what does a million years mean to you?" God replies "one minute" The guy sits at the top of the mountain and thinks for a moment. then he says to God "Hey, can i have a penny?" God replies "In a minute."
