I guess it really just depends on what part of the "States" you're from. I really didn't find the spices to be anything out of the ordinary. I also didn't think it was particularly "adventurous." Meat and veggies basically. Coucous is something I will find on my dinner table any night of the week so I guess I just don't see the so called exotic nature of this place.
We love it. However, it is not for everyone. It is very authentic middle eastern food and their spices etc. are not what some like or are used to eating here in the States.
If you like Greek food etc., you will probably love it and like another poster said, the mint tea is fabulous. It is one of those places you will either love or hate depending on your palette.
Soups are great, kabobs are great too. It is DEF not the place to go if you like plain old meat and potatoes. It is a wonderful place to go if you like live entertainment and have an adventurous palette.
If you like places like Boma, you will like Marrakesh....
