Restaurants w/ 2-Day Cancellation Policy

We found out last weekend that we would be going to WDW on 2/15-2/24. I am scrambling to find dining reservations now! We REALLY want to eat at California Grill during Wishes. (It's my birthday while we are there and I would love to do this.)

My question is this: Since it's a restaurant that requires cancellation 2 days prior to the reservation, do people tend to cancel there?

Just trying to figure out if we need to start really trying for a ressie 2-3 days before we go or if I should just give up.

I am really bummed about the dining situation. We were in DL last summer and didn't have ANY ADRs. This is a last-minute type of trip and I am freaking out because I'm afraid that we won't get to eat at any of the places we really want to.

If it's important to you, I would not give up. I'd be checking a lot, including the day of. We cancelled the day of once when we woke up with flu symptoms. Good luck!

I would not wait or give up. People cancel their reservations all the time so I would check online several times a day beginning now, especially because CG during Wishes is extremely popular, your vacation dates include Presidents' weekend and CG for your birthday is important to you. It would also help if you are flexible with the day.

Also, some people have said that they let people go up to the bar/waiting area without a reservation if there is room. I don't know the details.
