Restaurants to avoid

Haven't really had any horrible experiences but if I had to recommend three places to put at the bottom of your list they would be:

ABC Commissary - very much below average food and messy
The Lunching Pad - not good, very dirty when we ate there
Lotus Blossom Cafe - food court at the mall chinese food

Ohana's and Boma's are consistently our favourite places to eat. Never a bad moment out of 6+ visits to each.

Only one restaurant did I actually HATE the food - Princess Akershus lunch. The only thing we found edible from both mine and DH's meal was the dessert, and we are not picky eaters at all. That being said, we are planning on going back there next trip (my daughter loves princesses) but we are going to try for breakfast.

Alot of people hate Coral Reef, but it is our favorite. We have eaten there 3 times (2 lunch and 1 dinner) in the past 2 years and had the most delicious meals. It is now on our "must do" list every trip!

Yakitori House in Epcot.
Restaurant indoor seating has been very dirty the last few years visiting, and the restroom (Men's) is even worse. We made a stop for an emergency potty break, and I was horrified that my DW had gone in to get the Shogun Combo (Teriyaki Chicken/Sukiyaki Beef) while I tried to get my DD to use the restroom.

Food was lukewarm, and over salted. The Sukiyaki Beef was mostly fat and gristle, and was plated in a manner that made it resemble something regurgitated. They were very busy, however, so we gladly waited for a table to free up outside.

Tomorrowland Noodle Station in Magic Kingdom.
I was glad to finally see it open for once and popped in to try the Vegetable Noodle Bowl. Bland, bland, bland and the bean sprouts were not cleaned thoroughly. It was a very large portion, however. DD had the Chicken Breast Nuggets and they were not to her liking. I abandoned my noodle bowl, and ate the nuggets instead, dipping them in an Asian dipping sauce of some sort.

I agree with Mickey Man - we had the worst meal anywhere at Garden Grille
We also thought Whispering Canyon Cafe was only marginal
Wondering why Ohana is so bad was planning on trying it next trip

One of the worst food we have ever experienced. My sons grilled chicken was undercooked. My husband fish smelled really bad and did not taste fresh. I don't even remember our appetizer or dessert. We left the place hungry and we went to Sunshine Seasons for some food that is edible. Service was terrible too.

My worst meal at WDW was the Princess meal at Norway. (Akershus) The dinner did not live up to it's expectations. The Princess interaction was good and the server was good. The food quality was below average. For the price I paid for my dinner I expected better food quality. (We did order American meals) Another gripe I had is if I'm paying that much money for my meal my shrimp need to already be peeled!!:) Now as for the Princess breakfast at Akershus it was wonderful. Great food, great interaction and wonderful service.

I have to agree with a previous poster about Pepper Market - absolutely awful. We also found them extremely rude and the food was terrible. After having wonderful experiences at all other WDW TS and CS restaurants regarding our son's food allergies, this place was a big slap in the face.

We also will never return to...
Boma - we gave it 2 shots and just didn't like anything there
LeCellier - we had one fabulous experience there and then the second was so incredibly awful it more than cancelled out the first one

We went last year during free dining and did not like Spoodles at all. The spices/flavors were all wrong. We eat this type of food pretty regular and this did not tate good to us.

Sorry.

We've had about 25 trips in the last decade or so and have had the opportunity to dine at many restaurants numerous times. The most uneven for us have been Coral Reef, Big River Brewing Company, Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club (which we've now decided "no more") and Citiricos. Narcooses, Flying Fish and even the Biergarten have been consistently good as have all the dining option in France. On our last trip a few weeks ago, the big disappointment was the Kona Cafe. We found the wait-staff ill-informed about the menu and really surly.

ABC Commissary.

The burger tasted like cardboard. Threw it away and I usually never throw food away. I'll give other restaurants at the bottom of my list another chance but not this one. :scared:

I was very pleased to read all the various opinions on this thread. As i stated in the beginning opinions are neither right or wrong. We can each read the various opinions and decide for ourselves if they agree or disagree with our experiences. I do feel that in the case of several restaurants that have received a lot of bad opinions i would avoid them altogether. For the restaurants that received praise and complaints they might be worth trying. In the case of LeCellier the food and service were excellent. But, the husband and wife sitting next to us arguing brought down the experience. We will however return during our next trip. Bad customer manners are not the restaurants fault. Plus the Filet was OH SO GOOD.

Sunshine Seasons:
Have tried it 4x now, since the poorly done re-design of The Land--and have walked away disappointed each time. Great looking but bland, overpriced food in a very noisy atmosphere. The bakery's still good, though!

Basically if we let this thread go long enough, you will get every restaurant on this list. People's opinions differ. I will never let an opinion sway my decision to eat there.

We have three restaurants that we will avoid at all costs (actually, you couldn't pay us to eat there again): Hollywood & Vine, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Boatwright's.

Yak and Yeti counter service was terrible.

We both had the honey chicken, the chicken peices were coated so heavily in breading they seemed like they were Church's Fried chicken or KFC extra crispy (that very thick flaky breading), plus they were over cooked so the meat inside was dry and stringy (completely petrified in some peices). The honey sauce was bland, sticky, and there was way too much of it. It was jsut nasty.

Pepper Market, we only ate there for breakfast but a regular round belgian waffle (ONE), a few slices of bacon and OJ was $22.00 (IIRC, it might have even been more). And it was not anything special.

On a side note I hate, hate, hate the new and even cheaper chicken nuggets that are now served (everywhere it seems) on the kids meals. Really Disney? It was bad enough they ditched the strips for the nuggets but now on the kids meals the nuggets are completely different. They are disgusting. They are obviously cheap, processed meat (not breast filets like the nuggets on the adult platters) they have a horrid freezer-burned taste. Pretty low that Disney tries to pawn this off on the kids (Hey, they are kids, they won't know the difference, right?) Nasty, nasty, nasty.

Coral Reef. Very bland and poor quality food. We have been there twice. The first time it was alright, but the kids loved the tank. The second time it was terrible. I don't even remember what I got, but I remember my wife got the seafood pasta with sausage and it was so watered down, the only flavor was of the sausage. It tasted like the pasta and the overcooked seafood was in more of a broth as opposed to a sauce. Never again.:thumbsup2

San Angel Inn was bad for us. The food wasn't great, but the service was truly terrible.

everyone has different tastes - we have loved our meals at Coral Reef, Le Cellier, 50's PT, Mama Melrose, LTT (when it was a character dinner), Tony's and we even enjoyed our lunch at Sci-Fi. We have eaten other places too but these are ones I have seen people give bad reviews of often.
The only place we will NEVER return is San Angel Inn. The atmosphere was lovely but the food was bad and the service was terrible. Out waiter was the worst I have ever had anywhere - in WDW or otherwise.
