Restaurant Teppanyaki in Epcot ~ Honest reviews

We have a ps for Teppanyaki restaurant in Japan at the WS in Epcot during our Halloween trip. This will be our first time eating here and although the menu from Deb's site looks good, I am looking for honest reviews from fellow disers for this restaurant.

Our family's absolute must-do restaurant each trip is Teppanyaki. All 4 of my kids love eating here, even though there are no characters, games, etc. The food is good, and it is a great place for a lunch break. Dinner is fine, too, but more expensive, so we prefer lunch. The only quirky thing about the menu at Teppanyaki is the kids' meals. There is a "Donald's Favorite" (chicken) that includes a beverage, and mixed vegetables(like veg-all) for @$5. Then there is a choice of chicken, shrimp, or steak for kids that does not include the drink, but has a fruit salad and the same vegetables as adults(zucchini and onion?) for $8-9. My kids prefer the more expensive kids meal with the salad and they order water to drink, but my nephews preferred Donald's Favorite. And all kids meals come with ice-cream(in a dish). We've eaten at every country in Epcot(most more than once), and this is our all-time favorite restaurant. I hope you enjoy!

Our experience there was extremely positive. It was our first experience at a teppanyaki style restaurant and we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere and interacting with our cook. If I do it again it'll probably be at lunch since you have basically the same menu for half the price..

I went there last Thursday for lunch at 12:00 noon.

As for PS, I called WDW Dine that morning after discussing all the options. DH and I wanted to try something a little more exotic (we have a Benihana-style place where we live), but kids (DS8 and DD5) had their hearts set on it.

As for kids' food, DS8 had Shichigosan Chicken and DD5 had Donald's Chicken. We were told that Shichigosan would have a larger portion. However, it turns out both Shichigosan and Donald's came with a whole chicken breast (cut up and grilled to perfection, yummy enough for grown-ups). The only difference was that Shichigosan came with grown-up vegetables (zucchini, mushrooms, etc.) whereas Donald's came with peas and carrots.

As for the grown-up food, the steak was just good. But their scallops were REALLY, REALLY GOOD. TRY THEM!!!

At lunch, the portion is not big, which is a good thing because then you will be able to sample some yummy desserts from other countries.

We took our DD's 7, 4, and 2 this past July. During the wait for our table the host made the kids origami's which they loved!

My 4 year old is always nervous at our local Japanese Hibachi, because of the fire, but here they didn't make the flames go up on the grill, just smoke. So that was a good thing.

My 2 older DD's ordered the steak and my 2 year old shared off mine and her sister's plate. I just paid for extra drink. We skipped the ice cream so that we could see Illuminations.

We watched illuminations from the balcony at the restaurant and then it poured so we were saved from the rain from the overhang making this restaurant well worth it!!

We had a great lunch there in July. My 8 yr old had a blast and it was nice for her to eat something other than chicken fingers and fries.

By the way if you are going to Teppanyaki with a stroller, there is an elevator, make sure you find it. I carried stroller up those 20 steps!

Another thumbs up for Teppanyaki. I'm not usually a fan of Teppanyaki/Benihana type restaurants but I truly enjoyed our lunch at Teppanyaki. I had a tenderloin/shrimp combo and the tenderloin was great. The shrimp were good but coming from an area where shrimp is a staple I'm a bit picky and found them to be a bit lacking in flavor. The rest of the family enjoyed their food and the atmoshere as well.

Ate here in June just before Illuminations. The food was great. The receptionist out front made small animals out of paper and entertained every kid in the room as they waited to be seated. The whole staff is very very friendly and and service oriented.

We loved it, I went with DH, DS 5, DS 2, my mom and my dad (in their 50's) Dad is always nervous about anything not American or Italian, and even said "I have to check out the menu first" as we were walking in for our PS. Well, he loved it. The upgrade to the beef tenderloin is well worth it, and the sea food was excellent. We ended up going back a few days later at my fathers request.

We loved it too. Ate dinner on my husband's 40th birthday and at the end they brought out a whole small cake - delicious and decorated - that was enough to cut about 8 big wedges. It's not a lot different that any local benihana-style restaurant, but it's good.

We love all the sit down dining places in Japan: Teppanyaki, the tempura restaurant and the lounge. Good food and wonderful, serene atmosphere in all 3. From the lounge you also have a good view of Illuminations but the food is sushi and tempura appetizers and drinks, so a good place for a light meal and a drink, not the greatest place for little kids though IMO, but Teppanyaki and the tempura restaurant are great for all ages.

DH and I went once and won't be back. It was okay, but nothing special. The food was alright, but nothing to rave about. We found it a bit overpriced for what it was. There are too many other places in Epcot to eat that are MUCH better that I'd rather spend my money on.

In my opinion, this restaurant is worth going to if you haven't gone to any restaurant like it. The chef can be very entertaining and the food is generally good. I don't find either exceptional...nor do I find this restaurant much different from the Benihana's or Hibachi's of the world. They serve a lot of vegetables, so kids may be turned off by the selection of food.

I feel children will be particularly enthralled with the entertainment from the chef but if you are looking for an excellent meal, I am not sure this is your best choice. I give the restaurant a 7 for fun and a 6 for food quality. Don't get me wrong, I like the restaurant but feel there are 1/2 dozen better meals within a 15 minute walk of this restaurant.

My son and I ate dinner at Teppanyaki last week when we were at WDW and we loved it!. In fact, it was one of our best meals on our trip. My son had the steak and chicken and I had the scallops and shrimp, and they were delicious. I thought the food was very good and that you got a lot of food for the money. We really enjoyed it. My 14 year old son is a very picky eater and he loved it there. I highly recommend it! It was a great dinner with a very nice atmosphere.

I've eated at a lot of restaurants in Disney. My favorite in park restaurant is Teppanyaki.

I always have Tenderloin and Lobster combo, which is great! The whole thing is fresh, portions even for lunch are generous and compared to an equivalent meal, its great value. One thing through: your experience can depend on the chef you get.

1/2 a dozen better meal a 15 minutes walk away? For me... that whould be Flying Fish Cafe, Yachtsmen Steakhouse and... that's it. Alfredo? Most reviews from my coworkers are not so favorable and paying that much money for italian food I can easily get at home? Nah. Where I'm from, a Teppanyaki type restaurant does not exist. There are some variations, but you have tiny portions for huge prices. San Angel Inn, the whole setting makes me just go... I dont want to eat there. France? When you had the real thing, you dont take the Disneyfied/americanized version.

We went awhile ago, and we thought it was okay. I like Benihana better, but only because I am addicted to their chicken fried rice...Teppanyaki doesn't serve the fried rice, but serves yakisoba noodles instead. It was a fun experience though and I would try it again.
