Restaurant suggestions for couples

Just to chime in on some of the above comments.
  • We agree that Il Mulino should be on the list of places to consider. Really good Italian food there. Also, you can get the entire menu at the bar if you prefer to eat there. Ability to be seated at the bar sometimes can be difficult though because at times it gets very crowded with conventioneers. We've been fortunate all the times that we have gone that it wasn't a problem.
  • We also agree that California Grill would not be on our list. Its loud, lots of kids because of the fireworks and the food/service just doesn't measure up to our standards.
  • Citrico and Artist Point are two great choices for a quieter, romantic evening. Especially if you go later in the evening - say after 8 pm.
  • We've recently had a couple of good experiences at Narcoossee's, which surprised us. We had been off there for quite a while but had some friends in town and met them there a few months ago. Had a really good meal and have been back a couple of times since then. This place is great for its view of the Lagoon with the boats going back and forth and you can watch the fireworks from there if you time it right.

FYI Flying Fish and Fultons are both closed well into November for major overhauls, so I wouldn't plan on those two. The rest are really good (aside from Cal Grill in my opinion, and once again take it for what it's worth cause everyone else seems to love it).
Good to know, I was planning on Flying Fish, will re-think now.

Yes we very much like to eat at the bar. Thanks for the suggestions. Do find you are able to walk up to most bars and sit with little to no wait? We are going October 23-28 if that matters. I really hate to make ADR's and much prefer to decide last minute between a few options. But when we did Disney years ago we were planned to the minute of the trip because we had little ones and grandparents. I don't want this trip to be stressful, I don't mind making a few reservations for must do places, but want to be easy going for the most part.

Yes--you can almost always walk in and request to be seated at the bar w/o any reservations. It's what we always do nowadays and the few times we haven't gotten a seat were at Blue Zoo and Shulas when a major convention was at Swan/Dolphin.

Of course there is no guarantee there will be a seat--most of these bars are not super large. The earlier you go, the better. It's sort of a "first come" sort of thing.

Should add that tho CG is loud, eating at the bar removes some of the hectic stuff going on in the restaurant itself.

And to add that Yachtsman and Artist Point have no actual bar IN the restaurant--but they do have next door bar/lounges (Crews Cup/Territory Lounge) where it is said you can order a full meal. We've not done that, but maybe someone else can verify?

And I believe the Boathouse has several bars where a full meal is possible--we're doing that in May.

If you are looking for romantic setting, San Angel Inn is very nice. Not tex mex so much as more traditional dishes, but food is very good IMO. Its a dark, somewhat intimate setting, dine by candlelight, if close to the water, you can watch the boats pass. The Wave tends to not be very crowded, pretty laid back meal, and we have never been disappointed in the meals. Rose n Crown, Kona, 50s PTC , Via Napoli are just a few to throw into the mix

Thank you- I am considering San Angel. Can you request a table by the water?

You certainly can. Be prepared to wait for one to come available.

Not to rain on the parade here, but we've never really felt this place was that romantic. Well, it is due to the overall theeming, but then they wind up cramming you in so tightly that you almost get involved in the conversations at the tables all around you. Combine this with, IMHO, poor service and lack luster food leads us to go elsewhere for a romantic dinner.

Ugh. I just watched the podcast review and read menu. I'll be passing. I think while in Epcot it will be hard to eat anywhere but the food and wine booths anyway.
