Well, we've been back for a week and I'm finally getting around to posting my review. We found out the day we got back that I am pregnant so we've been a bit distracted - how's that for Disney Magic?? Anyhow, here goes the review:

Day 1: had PS for Jiko - our flight was delayed by 6 1/2 hours so we had to change our PS from 8 to 9:30. We thought we might feel rushed but to the contrary - this was not only our favourite meal but the least rushed of all of them. Our waiter was Mike - absolutely fabulous. He knew not only every detail of the menu but also a lot of neat information about Africa. This guy truly "lives" for his job. The African dips were fantastic - we both loved the spicier one. We both had the filet mignon on macaroni and cheese - I can still taste that sauce. Yummmmmy. If anyone has that recipe, please please pass it on. No room for dessert but my husband enjoyed a glass of Amerula (a liquer made from a South African plant). He just loved it and bought a bottle soon after our return home. We also had tea that came served in our own little Bodum pots - the waiter even offered to give us styrofoam cups to take the leftovers!!!!!!!!! We will definitely go back.

Day 2: Character breakfast 1900 Park Faire -- we found the food to be fine - nothing great, nothing bad but very, very expensive for what you get. As a couple without kids, we found the whole character thing kind of lacking. The only characters who approached our table were the Mad Hatter and Alice. The Mad Hatter gave my husband the creeps!!! He can't even look at the picture I took of his with the characters. It's pretty funny actually.

Dinner - California Grill : Very good food and great atmosphere/ view but ..........(and I hope this was an exception) - our server rushed us right from the get - go. We were given no time at all between courses and at the end he came to ask us if there was anything else (my husband did want an after dinner drink but decided not to because he was so annoyed) and the waiter promptly produced the bill. He had even made several comments to us about how busy it was that night. We got the picture. We would try it again but maybe on a less busy night.

Day 3: Lunch - Le Cellier (Epcot)- after all the reviews, just had to have the cheese soup. It was very good. I also ordered the steak sandwich but regretted it. I was stuffed after the soup and bread. We would definitely return.

Dinner - Palio : Food was fine - pretty standard Italian fare. I would not say exceptional. The atmosphere was very nice with the strolling musicians.

Dessert - Flying Fish - we truly regretted not eating dinner here. We loved the atmosphere and the menu looked fantastic. We did enjoy a fabulous dessert - it was over a week ago and I'm having trouble remembering what we had but I think it was some sort of chocolate volcano cake. Very yummy. Just loved the Boardwalk area for an evening stroll.

Day 4: departure to Fort Lauderdale for our cruise. Breakfast at Krispy Kreme - need I say more?????

Thanks for this review. You wrote some of the same things that I have thought about those restaurants.

Where is Palio?? I have never heard of this place.

Palio is in the Swan hotel.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! That is a great way to top off your vacation! I enjoyed your reviews!

Glad someone agrees with me about Park Fare...I really think it's the number-one most overrated restaurant at WDW....I give it a C-plus.

Enjoyed your reviews. I agree about Jiko...that sauce is so good. We'll be back there in 26 days!

What time and night did you dine at California Grill? 25 days until we dine there again. It's a shame you felt rushed!

We haven't been to Park Fair for many years but it wasn't high on our list either.

We're planning to finally try Flying Fish this trip! How crowded was it?

Hi BCV23 - could you have some of that sauce for me please???

We went to CG on a Friday night - it looked busy but not any more than any other good restaurant I've ever been to. I think this waiter was the exception. When we looked around at other tables who were seated at the same time as us, they were just starting their main courses when we were being handed our bill. I think this guy was the real culprit. He even spoke really fast. I wish I could remember his name so people could stay clear......

When we went to flying fish it was at about 10:00 p.m. on a Saturday night and it was not crowded at all (this was 2 weeks ago). I suspect that if you don't mind a late PS (after 9) at any of the restaurants, you'll have no problem.

Have fun!!!

Thanks for the imformative reviews! Can't wait to try Jiko and Le Cellier on our next trip. They sound great!
