I've been able to get a lot of good restaurant recs for the Disney portion of our upcoming trip but I'm wondering about the rest.

We will be staying two nights in La Jolla, one day will be spent at Sea World. Any suggestions for restaurants in the La Jolla area? Specifically we will be on gilman Drive off of La Jolla Village Dr.

We will also stay 2 nights in Hollywood. We will be one long block off of Hollywood Blvd on Franklin Ave. between N. Sycamore and N. Orange Dr. Any suggestions?

We love all kinds of food but will probably avoid Thai since my mom hates it. Other than that, good food at fair/reasonable prices is best, atmosphere would be a plus.

Miceli's is a classic Hollywood Italian joint with singing waiters and fun. Lucky Devil's is a new casual place on Hollywood Blvd with good food. Mel's Drive in is just a block down Highland off Hollywood Blvd and is comfort food & fun. In & Out Burger is a must if you've never tried one!

Are you going to Universal one day? If not, you might enjoy a subway metro ride up to Universal Citywalk one night to browse around and have dinner. Mostly mediocre chain places up there but it's a fun trip up and back from Hollywood....I've heard that Bubba Gumps has pretty good food.

Mel's diner sounds fun and I don't think any of us have been to an In and Out. Thanks for the suggestions. :thumbsup2 I will also print the menus for Miceli's incase anyone is in the mood for italian. We are doing Universal one day and I'm considering Bubba Gumps or Saddle Ranch for that day.

Lots of decent restaurants in the Golden Triangle area around La Jolla Village Dr.

There's a PF Chang's near University Town Center (UTC) which is the big mall along Genessee and La Jolla Village Dr. And there's lots of restaurants near/in the mall - a couple of sit-down places but mostly food court. If you haven't tried Rubio's Fish Tacos, those are really good - they have chicken, carnitas, and carne asada selections, too. (There's a Rubio's in the food court.) There's an ice skating rink at the mall, and the food court overlooks it, so you can eat and watch the ice skaters from some of the tables.

There's a California Pizza Kitchen and an Islands (really good burgers, though they have chicken and salads, too) on Nobel Drive just west of Interstate 5 - those are two of our favorite casual dining spots.

Corvette Diner is supposed to be lots of fun, but that's in Hillcrest - it's not too far from Sea World, but probably 20-25 minutes from the UTC area.

Another place that's fun is Dave and Buster's in Mission Valley, again, about 20 minutes from UTC. It's a combination arcade, sports bar, and restaurant. Food is kind of what you'd get at TGI Friday's, though maybe a bit more pricey.

Hope that helps.

Thanks ScooterL. That really does help. I had no idea where to even start in the La Jolla area.:confused3

We've been there many times, and enjoyed it.
