Rest in Peace, President Carter

I know people like to rank the presidents, and there’s lots of different ways you might decide who you would rank high. But I think that Jimmy Carter is absolutely the number one former president. The amazing work he did in the way he served the world after his presidency was over is so commendable.
I agree. He didn't let his political failures be what he will be remembered for.

Not the best President of the USA. But, in my opinion, the best PERSON to serve as President. A beautiful human being. Too good for presidency. I don't think good people can serve as President.

A very honorable man, but the worst president in modern times. Sometimes being a good person is not what is needed to be a good president. Carter never sacrificed his moral integrity, sometimes to the detriment of the country. RIP to a man who never stopped caring and servicing humanity.

in his own words-

"We have become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams."

"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something. I’m free to choose that something. … My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I can, whenever I can, for as long as I can."

"War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn to live together in peace by killing each other's children."

"Aggression unopposed becomes a contagious disease."

"Failure is a reality; we all fail at times, and it's painful when we do. But it's better to fail while striving for something wonderful, challenging, adventurous, and uncertain than to say, 'I don't want to try because I may not succeed completely.''

I was doing the math...we as voters were in our 20's and 30s when he was president...and of the 4 presidents to win the Nobel peace prize...3 of them have connections to Georgia....he won the election popular vote by only 2 million...I didn't realize we were polarized then

I did a Habitat for Humanity Carter Work Project in Plains [edit: sorry, just remembered that it was in Americus, nearby] years ago. The Carters came to the site on one of the build days and the group at every house got a photo with them. They were wonderful people, examples to us all.
