I've received my Resv confirmation and am not sure how to verify that my request for a 2 Bdrm dedicated.

Under Vacation home type: Two Bedroom, is noted.

Is this the norm? or should it refer to the "dedicated" request? My other requests have been noted below, non-smoking & view of DD.

It's my understanding that the 2 Bdrm dedicated will ensure that we're requesting both beds in the 2nd bdrm, which is our hope, instead of the bed & fold out sofa layout.

We're new to DVC and appreciate these boards & any info!

Thanks,
Christi

I have reservations at both BCV 10/12-10/14 & SSR 10/15-10/22/04 and they both read two bedroom nonsmoking vacation home. I called to verify dedicated 2 br and I was told in my reservation that it is a dedicated as we have 6 people going and need the bed space - hope to avoid the couch but if I have to - I don't mind as the kids will sleep there. My reservations were made on 12/1/03. Thanks!

Just a word of warning that even if you have the "dedicated" notation in DVC's computers, you probably want to verify that you were assigned such a room at check-in. I've seen a lot of posts from people who were told they should get a dedicated 2B only to find a lockoff when they arrive in their room.

DVC probably needs to track the dedicated / lockoff reservations for inventory purposes. However, my guess is that CMs at the resort either don't understand that there actually is a difference between a "dedicated" and "lockoff" room (in terms of the number of beds), or they don't care.

Thanks for the info!

We have 6 adults plus a toddler in our family and would be able to adjust if a lockoff was assigned. I'll call back & verify that the request is in the computer and hope for the best!

These resv are for June 2005, so I'll plan on making a call right before we go and re-verify the requests again.

Many thanks again for your replies!

if your confirmation does not say - then dedicated is generally what you will receive.

to my knowledge it only says lock-off.

I didn't see what resort you are staying at and it makes a difference. For WDW, here's a break down by resort.
  • For OKW, all 2 BR will have 2 queens in the second.
  • For BWV, NO 2 BR will have 2 queens in the second.
  • For VWL and SSR, all DEDICATED 2BR will have 2 queens in the second and all lockoff's will have a queen plus a pull out full.
  • BCV is where it gets dicey, all 2 BR lockoff's will have a queen and pull out full in the second. About one third of the dedicated will have 2 queens and the other two thirds a queen and pull out queen.
If it doesn't say lockoff and your not BCV, you should be set (in the case of SSR, OKW or VWL) or have no options (BWV). BCV it the issue and it it doesn't say 2 queens, you will likely not have that option.

We're staying at SSR, sorry I forgot to mention that, so it looks like we'll be just fine!

This is great info and helps so much for future planning!
Being new to DVC, SSR is our home resort, but we do hope to visit the others too.

Thank you for your help!
Christi

I knew you were staying at SSR because you requested a "DD" view, which I assumed you meant DTD.

My BCV ressie only says two br, but MS confirms that it is dedicated with 2 queens. I plan to email BC to confirm that they will see dedicated with 2 queens when they book my room (ahead of time, as I have non-smoking for medical reasons........)
