We are a group of adults ages 23 to 55 and will be at Epcot and Magic Kingdome next week, December 10 and 11. We thought we might take the monorail to eat from Magic Kingdom and hope someone could recommend some places (not fine dining but good) at resorts on the monorail.

Thanks so much!:)

The only fine dining is Victoria & Alberts.

I think Ca Grill is a great place for a group to go. The views are fantastic. We are all sushi lovers so we love going for the sushi and the view.

At the Contemporary I would recommend California Grill or The Wave. I would also recommend the Kona Island Sushi Bar at the Polynesian.

I recommend Kona Cafe at the Poly. Our favourite monorail resort restaurant.

Considering the nearness of your trip, you might want to go to the online reservation system and just see what's open at the monorail resorts. Your options are likely to be limited.

Kona Cafe is great. Good menu and reasonable.

Narcoosee is very nice too but a bit more pricey.

Yeah if you're not looking for fine dining I'd definitely agree with the recommendations for Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. It's casual, but they have really good food, and it's a nice atmosphere.

We always make a point of going to the Grand Floridian Cafe for lunch after a visit to the spa. Always fantastic food and service!
Cali Grill is fantastic for Sushi.

I have to respectfully disagree with this. V&A is a 5-diamond restaurant, so certainly very fine dining. But Citricos and even California Grill are excellent IME. Citricos is more refined in atmosphere, but CA Grill has a sort of upbeat glamour to it. Both have fairly interesting menus with dishes that you can't get at just any WDW restaurant.

On this, I agree!

The "not fine dining but good" choices on the monorail line would include (again, IMO):
  • Grand Floridian Cafe
  • The Wave
  • Kona Cafe

Also "not fine dining" but not that good IMO:
[*]'Ohana
[*]Chef Mickey's

Then there's 1900 Park Fare which is average to good for a buffet.

I just checked availability at the 3 monorail resorts for dinner on the 10th. There is nothing available.

There are some available, the OP didn't specify how many people are in their group though. I checked 4 people, and there were some availabilities around 8pm (give or take 20 minutes) on the 10th for some of the monorail restauraunt (Wave, Kona, GF Cafe) and 7:15 at Citricos. But it depends on the number of people, when I change it to 6 people I only got around 8pm for the Wave and Citricos.

I love ohanas and maybe 1900 park fair.:thumbsup2 But we always have to go to ohanas every trip. This year it was booked solid so no ohanas.

Like a few other PP have said, this late in the game you'll have to go on-line and see what (if anything) they have available. Restaurants at WDW start booking six months out, and many people book that far ahead. Depending on how big your travel party is, you may have a hard time finding anything. Good luck, and have a great trip!:goodvibes

Wow, thank you all so much! I think Kona seems right for us and will go right now and check for availability. We will be at MK December 11, but will be flexible with times so maybe it will work out.

Counting down the days!

One more thing, how much time should we allow to get to the Polynesian via the monorail?

Well coming from the Magic Kingdom you can take the Resort Monorail and once you arrive at the Polynesian Kona Cafe is located a few feet away from their Monorail station. Now before it arrives at the Polynesian it stops at the Contemporary and Polynesian, so via the Resort Monorail it could take at least 15 - 20 minutes. You could also take a boat from the Magic Kingdom to the Polynesian, although it will 1st stop at the Grand Floridian and I can't guess how long it will take since I never went on it before.

The Wave and Kona r great. O'Hana's had a great breakfast too. On the monorail is the way to go. Get there in a jiffy.
