We're planning another excursion into the wonderful world of disney but have hit a snag. We are split as to where to stay. My mom wishes to stay at the Polynesian, while my brother and I want to stay at the Boardwalk. We've stayed at the Yacht Club already, so we know just how good the Boardwalk Area will be. Any opinions to help settle this deadlock?

I'm interested in why folks want to stay where they do. Does mom want to be closer to Magic Kingdom and the other monorail resorts? Do you guys want to be closer to Epcot and the Studios? Or is it the perks of the Resorts themselves (e.g. Stormalong Bay, Beaches and Cream, 'Ohana, the Volcano pool, etc.) that are calling you to your choices? I would determine the main perks you're looking for in a resort and see if you can compromise that way.

Both are great resorts. I've stayed a few times at Beach Club and so would be inclined to try the Poly myself as I love variety. Many folks feel "at home" at both resorts.

Also--maybe a split say? One week at Poly and one week at BC?

Is Mom is paying for the trip? If so, perhaps she gets veto power. ;)

Mom stays at the Polynesian and you and your brother stay at the Boardwalk? Kidding.

A split stay would be the best. Put a "P" and a "B" in a hat, have a neutral party pull one out and that's the one you stay in first.

Another thing you can do is have the three of you list the pros and cons of each resort (be fair and don't share lists). Then get together and see why the other side wants that particular resort. And why the other side doesn't want your resort. Then try and compromise on things.

I would do a split stay and do BOTH! :) The best of both worlds!!! :cool1:

I agree, making a list of reasons to stay or not stay at each resort will help with the decision. Last trip we wanted to stay at the Boardwalk because we really thought my dad would love it there and it was my parents first trip to the World (turns out we were right by the way)
Well our four kids really, really wanted to go back to the Poly or to the Beach Club, but I knew that my dad loves to people watch and that he would love a Boardwalk view room. We made up lists and it turns out the kids were basing their decision on the pool alone, forgetting that we were going in December and we wouldn't be in the pool that much anyway. Once they saw the list they realized I was right!

I've read a lot of so-so reviews of Boardwalk. We've never really wanted to stay there, since we did the area when we stayed at BC. We love Poly though. I'd never do a split stay, personally, as I don't want to pack and unpack in the middle of a trip.
