RESORT OPENINGS CHANGED (Announced 7-27-20)

Y'all are at the big fancy resorts. Anyone staying at AoA know where they plan on pushing us off to? I picked AoA for the theming. I really wanted to stay there (October Disneymoon). So now I'm wondering what they consider comparable that they're going to send us to instead? Pop is really all I can think of that would be about the same. But I've never stayed on site so this is all from what I've learned over time on here.

I've mainly seen Pop and CBR. I'm assuming your in a regular room, not suite? We're in a suite and they're trying to give us cabins or 1 room at cbr. I'm not happy with either, so haven't changed it yet.

So weird,I'd call back. I had poly standard (was already upgraded from CSR being closed) and was able to move to dvc side easily this morning. We also have a trip in Oct. booked at aoa family suite and that on the other hand is a mess right now so I just left that one for now.
I think it's mainly because the CM felt as though, since I had a lagoon view, a DVC room standard view wouldn't be comparable. It's all that they had. I honestly don't really mind it since I'll now be at RR and I've been wanting to stay there but it's always exorbitantly expensive. It's kind of a bittersweet change, but I also know that from what I've been told, the whole "Poly experience" isn't there with Trader Sams and other lounges being closed in addition to no fireworks, EWP, Epcot monorail, etc. It'd be our first time there so I don't have anything to really compare the current conditions to so... 🤷‍♀️ I really wanted to stay there but hopefully, we can grab a good discount to stay there in the future like the current awesome 40% AP discount. We'll still pay the Poly a visit with a Kona Cafe breakfast before our MK day though!

I was at AoA little mermaid room for 8/30-9/4. When I called the CM automatically moved me to CBR. He didn't even mention Pop which is what I thought I would be moved to. I am perfectly fine with it though because while I like Pop, I've already stayed there and haven't stayed at CBR. I have seen that other people have been moved to Pop though so I am not sure if it was just availability for my dates or what.

We were moved to CBR when I called. I specifically told her I wanted to be on the skyliner which was why we booked AoA in the first place. She said CBR was the best choice because it was the "next step up from what we had booked" and pop would be a downgrade price wise.

We have two rooms reserved at AOA the end of October. The CM I spoke with today only offered POP. She was not very knowledgeable, I asked about a refund since POP is less money and she told me that IF POP cost less they would refund me the difference. She said POP is the same class as AOA so that was my only choice. She gave no other options. We will probably cancel the trip. Had she offered CB, I'd consider still going. May wait until closer October to see if Disney offers a different option later. We've stayed at POP the past few trips and are ready for a change.

Call back and try someone else. Each CM has a different set of super powers, so no need to settle for POP without trying at least one or two more times. If offered POP again, ask what other options are available.

We were given CBR but she did say Pop first then she kinda talked herself out of it. Weird but I just let it go. I would have been okay with either but CBR will be fun.

I was on hold for 3 hours to be told by cast member that since this is the 2nd time I have to switch resorts she couldnt help me . That someone else from disney would be contacting me. Very frustrating.

We have gone from Pop to AOA pre covid to Port Orleans back to AOA during shutdown and now to CBR. It didn’t seem to be an issue this morning.

I have an April 2021 reservation at BC. I’m thinking of just keeping it for now? A lot can change from now to then but I’m hoping it’s open. We were looking forward to trying out the resort.

Not necessarily. I had a Poly, lagoon view stay and they wouldn't move me to the DVC side saying it wasn't comparable.
Yep, that happened to us too. We were originally at Poly for first half and couldn't be switched to DVC bc nothing was available. We were moved to CR tower room Bay Lake view. We were at YC and needed to be moved. During the initial switch the CM tried for BWV & BCV so we would still be in that area, but nothing was available. She had to place us in CR again. I kept calling each day to see if something opened up at BWV & BCV as people continued to cancel their trips. It paid off as studio did eventually open up for us and we switched to BWV for the second half of our stay.

My CM was very picky with what was "comparable" to my room at the Poly. Basically said that the CR Garden Wing rooms weren't good enough, but the CR Tower rooms were too much and couldn't be price-protected, which was odd to me since I feel like they're comparable to a Poly lagoon view price-wise. I'm glad your persistence worked out for you! I'm torn because I got moved to RR and have been wanting to stay there but I was looking forward to being at the Poly/a monorail resort for the first time. I think what had to do with the whole "comparable" room thing for my situation is that I was originally at AKL and maybe they're looking into that original price as being the one to "compare" it to, not the room I was assigned during the initial room change. I mean, I was originally at AKL with a king bed, savannah view but 🤷‍♀️ not "comparable" to the majority of rooms at deluxe resorts I guess.

This is a drag. With BC not opening SAB will most likely not be opening either.

We had a Little Mermaid room at AOA and were offered CBR or Pop. I took CBR but am not feeling it. I personally don't like staying at moderates and now I'm not sure what to do. Blehh.

We've stayed at both and CBR is our least favorite resort out of all we've stated at (10 different ones so far.) We hated how the checkin building was away from the rest of the resort and just in general it was all so spread out (and we had the Martinque, so we were one of the closest buildings to the main bldng.) Do you have kids who would really prefer a slide? That's def. a bonus over Pop (although again we didn't care for the layout of the pool at CBR,) and the rooms are nicer. - If you're driving, the multiple bus stops won't matter to you, but if you're taking Disney transportation that's another thing to consider.

NB

Just a suggestion, try to make an ADR for Kona Cafe if you can. Don't know if they've changed it but a few years back we didn't have one and were turned away being told they were required.

I have stayed at Coronado a few times, my first stay was perfect but each time after I'm like, why did I do this to myself?! Haha! We ended up getting an uber about half the time.

It is just me and my husband, no kids, we're in our 30's. The bus thing is definitely what worries me. With the zones they have combined with multiple stops you could not end up on a bus? I'll have to look into how others' stays go I guess. Skyliner is nice but could be a far walk. We'd be flying in, so no car.

What I like about potentially staying here is the amount of pools and a bit "nicer" of a resort since it seems we'd be spending more time here than usual.
