Resort marshmallow camp fire - vegetarian alternative??

Hey.
Does anyone know if there is a vegetarian alternative for the marshmallows? Or maybe gelatine free ones??



(gelatine is derived from the collagen mainly inside pig skin and cattle bones)

They only offer regular marshmallows but I am sure they would have no problem with you bringing your own alternative.

I really don't know the answer to that question, but as a pp suggested - maybe you could bring your own?

I hear this a lot when im in Orlando. I am only a Vegetarian so I don't eat any animals (meat) but I do eat milk, butter, eggs etc.
On all our Vegetarian food products over here we have a green 'V' on the packaging and little Vs on menus in restaurants. But its not so common to be a vegan over here.

You are fine to take your own from England with you.

Saw alot of people with their own supplies to make smores rather than buying from the chuck wagon.

I believe it is okay to other resorts and watch the movies. I have stayed at several different resorts and (at least when I have been there) it wasn't crowded at all for the movies.

There are differences over here in being a vegetarian and a vegan. Which do you practice?

Edit: I have brought some lovely cookies back to Dallas from London (Harrod's has some delicious stuff!) and I was allowed through with them because they are pre-packaged and not produce. I would think your marshmallows would be safe to bring over.

Yes, packaged foods like marshmallows are perfectly fine to bring through customs. You'd only run into problems with fresh fruits and veggies, meats and cheeses. I don't really think it would be much trouble to throw a bag of marshmallows, which weighs practically nothing, in a suitcase.

Yes we are fine to bring in packaged food in the suitcase - just no meat/fruit/veg.

You fill in a customs declartion form and hand to customs on arrival.

If you want to be specific, it's an ovo lacto vegetarian diet, but in my experience, those that cut out ovo and lacto call themselves vegan. If they eat honey, they generally keep it to themselves, LOL, if they call themselves vegan.



OP, that link provides something that sounds really good (if only my family didn't avoid corn syrup!). In the past, Americans have tried kosher marshmallows, but it was later found out that they used fish gelatin. Not vegetarian. Sigh.

That's the first American site I've seen that uses carageenan. If only they used tapioca syrup! (doesn't have the same weird effects on DS and DH) if only I'd get off my rear and make some.



OP, before we stopped using corn syrup, we found Marshmallow Fluff to be a decent (and just as unhealthy as marshmallow) alternative to marshmallow when doing s'mores. You don't get the roasty taste/feel, but it's the same sweet. It comes in jars.

Nowadays we just eat chocolate.
