Need advise on resorts--- Planning a honeymoon for Jan or Feb 2007. We are not afaid to spend a little money. Mostly looking for somewhere where we can also relax and enjoy our vacation. Trying to avoid crowds and families with children. No offense to all the famlies out there I went when I was a kid and I plan on taking my family someday it is just that this is our vacation this time and we want it to be romantic and relaxing. Thought about Contemporary b/c of monorail access to MK. Any other gems out there?

For my honeymoon, Me and my future husband plan to stay at the polynesian. We looked at all the hotels and came to find that this one is quite nice. It has that vacation feel and looks like a place where you can really relax. It also has the monorail to MK. You can get MK views in your room and there are so many more options. Just a little thought if your thinking of this resort. My other suggestion would be that the cabins at fort wilderness are extremely private. You get your own cabin and can rent a little gulf cart. They're a lot of fun! I think at disney, there will always be families with children no matter where you go. But if what your looking for is more of a romance and relaxing vacation I would stay at a deluxe resort, if your not afraid to spend the money that some of those rooms require. Enjoy and have fun... I will be posting a report abuot my honeymoon, and i'll post about the polynesian as well... my honeymoon is in a week and half, so if you want to check back with my thread before you make a choice, I'd be happy to help you :)

I have to put in a vote for Wilderness Lodge - and yes I'm totally biased as we got married and spent the first part of our honeymoon there :teeth: It is SO romantic, beautiful grounds, the lobby is breathtaking, there are paths to walk on, you can take the water launch to Ft. Wilderness or to MK or the Contemporary, the pool is very nice and the geiser is cool to watch. We really enjoyed sitting on our balcony at night and having a snack or a glass of wine, just relaxing and listening to the music from the pool area. On our last day there we got on the boat to the Contemporary and we were the only 2 people on it and the captain let us "pilot" it while in dock and took our picture - it was so cute! We love Artist Point restaurant too (had our rehearsal dinner there) because it's romantic and generally has few children. If you want someplace louder with more of a crazy atmosphere, Whispering Canyon Cafe is always fun. And there's a snack area that they were expanding the last time we were there a few months ago. We could see the Wishes fireworks from the dock which was good on the nights we didn't feel like going back to MK. The only thing I suggest to people is to not get a room on the first floor. I've stayed on the first floor once and my father had a first floor room for the wedding and it can be quite noisy. Any other floor is fine and although I haven't stayed there I've read that the concierge level cannot be beat. We just love WL :lovestruc

Both the Poly and the WL are great choices...if you go to the resorts board and ask this question you will get TONS of responses...everyone has an opinion and tons of info and pictures!! It's a great place to get advice.

My DF and I decided on the Wilderness Lodge as well...it's exactly what I wanted and I'm so excited to stay there!!!

good luck!!! Check out the Resorts board!! It's fun and they have lots of pictures! :thumbsup2

We have also decided on WL! We booked our 4 night stay there for Jan 07, and then after that, we will be going on DCL for 7 nights. We have never stayed at a deluxe resort, but have been to many of them (for dining and whatnot) and feel that WL is breathtaking! 2nd choice would have been then Poly, but I can't pass up WL.

I'll have to throw my vote in for the Boardwalk. We're renting points from a DVC member to stay in a 1bd Villa. Depending on the time of year and when you're staying you can save a lot of $$$. Plus I love the proximity to Epcot and MGM.

I am going to be partial to a resort too then! haha. I say go GF. yes, there are going to be kids everywhere (it is disney after all!) but there seem to be not quite as many here. plus its very romantic, its where i am going on my Jan. 07 honeymoon! you can get a concierge honeymoon room overlooking cinderella's castle, and have the great monorail access. conceirge also has 24 hr. room service last time I checked, and grand floridian has a great spa and a great quiet pool with hot tub! let me know if you have any Q's!
