Are annual pass discounts on WDW resort hotels really good? I have never had an annual pass but was thinking about buying one next year and using it for 2 separate yearly trips (unfortunately in the distant future). When I have visited WDW in the past, I have always been able to find really good codes i.e. All Stars Resort for $55/night. Should I expect better discounts than this with annual passes?

AP rates are usually very good, when they are available. I have saved what I paid for my AP's in the past on resort discounts. I think the perks aren't what they used to be, but still worth it.
For example - AP rates for late summer - $30 of value per night, $50 of moderates per night & $80 off deluxe per night.

If you are making 2 trips in the next year, the pass would probably be the way to go just from an admissions standpoint....

The discounts for the AP pass holder are usually really good, and when you factor in the savings depending on the time of year and the length of stay, every little penny really adds up.

Like mentioned before if you are able to go more then one in a year it really helps out, on both your hotel, and the fact you already have the ticket.

If you are staying in a Disney Hotel longer then 4 days you will save on the ticket alone, when compared to a 4 day pass or 5 day pass.

I am a Florida Resident, and my family and I live by the florida resident pass.

Like I said if you go more then 4 days the AP more then saves you just on the ticket, and when you think about what you save on the hotel even more magic.

Have fun when you go to the Magic Kingdom

You do not have to have an AP in hand to make a reservation using an AP discount. Rooms available with the AP discount are limited in number and not always offered. It can be risky to count on getting an AP discount, especially now that park attendance is picking up. Disney is not releasing as many AP discounted rooms (and they are not releasing them as far in advance) as they have in the past year or so. Do the math for your situation before you buy your tickets.

My advice is to buy the pass that makes the most sense for your park touring plans - if that turns out to be an AP and you get additional discounts because of it, that's great!

Best wishes -

for non FL residents is 8 nights. If you are staying at a Disney resort for 8 nights or more, it is less exoensive to buy an AP than a UHP (or LOS pass, whatever it is called now). There have been times when we did not get resort discounts (president's week in Feb and Oct 2003), but we stayed more than 8 nights, so it paid to buy this pass. Also, we are going again this Sept (activated AP when we went last Oct), so we will not have to buy passes for DH and I for this trip! I believe the AP still gives 10% select stores in DTD (including WOD), a perctange off certain shows (like Cirque), and dining discounts off a few select locations (like 10% off lunch at Epcot sit down places, Trails End, and a few other on site places). All in all, it more than works for us financially. I am hoping one of the other perks, an early screening of the new Stitch ride for AP holders, will be able to be enjoyed on our Sept trip!

I leave on Sunday and am staying at AKL - at the AP rate. I saved over $300 on the hotel costs - the AP was $159 more than the PH pass I was going to get - so I still come out $140 ahead so it was worth it to me to get the AP. I would note here that when I called to make the reservation, I asked about AP rate and since it was available and such a good rate, I decided to go for it. I booked the hotel and then went and bought my AP.

Plus - now, if airlines have sales on flights to Orlando - I have an AP - so a reason to go back :Pinkbounc
