Resort Change by Disney

My plan is to make my park reservations first thing in the morning and then check these boards to see what is happening with resorts. Then I will make the phone call. *sigh* So much work.
This is my plan too!
I'm hoping they'll move our WL reservation to somewhere else with two beds (and not a huge increase - we booked at a military rate).

At some point, I'll have to deal with our November ASMo reservation, but I might just wait on that until the dust settles this week.

The cast member advised me to seek out my park choices first.
Disney is definitely thinking if you don't get your park choices that they will be doing a lot of resort cancellations tomorrow.
Which makes total sense.

Resort choice means a lot to me but I would definitely put park entry above a resort in these crazy times.
I realize others might be more excited on the resort choice.

We are scheduled to check in July 11 AKL non Villa. I was hoping they would just move us to a villa room instead. I really hope we don’t have to call and change rooms esp if we will have to pay for the difference. As much as we have already paid and all of the cuts they have made in order to open (and we are not complaining about any of it) the least they could do is just move us to an open room for no additional charge.

Updated language From Disney. It seems like they will no longer contact people...you must call.

Oh yes I did forget to mention that. The cast member I just spoke to absolutely did say guests MUST call so thanks Sandi for posting that!!!! :flower3:

So please do not sit back and think Disney will notify you by email or phone.

Good luck to everyone who will be on the phones forever tomorrow :thumbsup2

The wait for people making resort ADRs for only a few weeks was 2+ hours just last week. I can’t even imagine what we’re walking into tomorrow between resort rebookings and park reservation questions. Ughhhh.

I know!! My phone will be on speaker while I move about my house. I may even set it to my bluetooth bose speakers.
My kids will love hearing the music and the guy repeatedly coming on and saying a cast member will be on shortly over 10,000 times 😂

I am wondering what they will do for us POR folks. I have a reservation at FQ for just my teen daughter and I starting 7/17 ( #soon). Since it’s just us girls we really don’t need or want cabin. (We have a small one in New Hampshire) I’m thinking we will probably be in a studio at Saratoga. My daughter isn’t feeling it. POR we love. I wound be thrilled, however, to be downgraded to POP if they could refund the difference On a gift card or something. I don’t think that will happen.

I have a Port Orleans reservation too- POR 8/21. Hoping they dont downgrade us to one of the values? Would love to be put at saratoga tbh.... love the short distance to springs

Okay, so I'm confused..... if we do a resort change will we be charged or not????? POR wont be open for my stay and I'm definitely not wanting to be downgraded to a value or pay a crazy amount for a deluxe.... god tomorrow is gonna be so stressful!

Just a vent. I really really wished that people w/ very quickly approaching trips could have modified their reservations before they opened up the park bookings and modifications for everyone. I really wish they would have taken care of July and then opened it. I can see the whole system crashing and phones lines going down. I have July 7th package that we need to move to when all the parks are open. I feel like this is going to be a horrible experience.

I think it depends on dates and what actually happens. Rumor is that they won’t be moving people since there are options

However, only moderate ist Ft Wilderness for moderate right away. Only thing is to call and see as each situation may be different.

True! Caribbean Beach will be open by the time we go so I bet they'll move me there.... never stayed there so could be cool!

I agree. I think they should deal with the next 30-45 day guests before tackling the next 15 mos. I have quite a few family, friends and clients (none of which are on DISboards) who have reservations end of 2020 and into 2021. All are planning to be on in the morning. It's gonna be an all out mess. I love them all but I want to say, "please just let those of us going in the next 30 days get settled before you try to book your days a year from now". However, it's not their fault. Disney has created this mass frenzy and it's their doing.

Well I know we have all spoken to different cast members who should be telling us the same info from a script LOL......
BUT...I literally just got off the phone with a cast member who seemed helpful and knowledgable.
She told me that since I have a room for WL for mid/late July that I should call in the morning and request where I would like to be moved. She said they are NOT just willy nilly moving people and that you may make a request and they will look up the availability a.s.a.p. (example if I say Boulder Ridge is fine)

(I already also have tickets with parkhoppers. She said they will remove the parkhoppers from my reservation but to please mention it tomorrow when I call.)

So my question to some of you all is.....
Are you waiting for WDW to suggest a move to you in hopes that you will receive an upgrade?
My cast member said they are expecting people to request a resort that is open and then check the availability.

I sort of felt like I need to CHOOSE A RESORT .........or else I could lose out if I wait for them to move me July 11 because there could be absolutely nothing left. Does that make sense I hope?
I know it is stressing for us all.

I’m calling first thing this morning and I’m prepared for nothing to be free. I have a list of acceptable resort/room changes based on what I’m currently paying. If they build in a recovery rate of some sort that will be a bonus, but for now I’ve set my expectations based on what I paid (sun & fun) compared to the rack rate just in case they really decide to be jerks.

Smart move. That’s exactly how they handled my reservation. They compared my AP discount at the YC CL to rack rate at a DVC property. I don’t see them moving out of jerk mode anytime soon.
