Reserving site..and not occupying it?

Whoa...I don't have an issue with them not going to the parks..that's exactly my point. They use the resort for the great amenities it offers. ;) Where as most folks in a value resort (from many of the posts I've read) feel they don't want to pay alot for a place where they only sleep. Meaning they're not choosing it for it's amenities. Where as the folks who want a site in FW often are visiting to enjoy the resort itself. Seems a shame, is all I'm saying if they aren't able to do so, because someone who isn't staying on property anywhere wants an extra magic hour.
Of course anyone can do whatever they want if it's within the law. I'm merely commenting that I would feel badly for those who had to miss out on a vacation because someone wanted an extra hour of "magic" and never set forth so much as a foot into the campground.

I agree with you. It just doesn't sit right with me. We hear so often that people sometimes can't get reservations, even far in advance. I don't have the information at hand right now but I've seen the breakdown of the amount of value resort rooms compared to the amount of campsites in FW and the campsites are only a fraction of the resort rooms. It seems a shame to me to take up those much fewer campsites when campers would love to be USING them, just so someone can get free parking and EMH.

I'm not speaking from a business viewpoint.....strictly an emotional one.

The thing that bugs me about people reserving sites and never using them is:

a) They almost always reserve partial hook-up's (not the expensive RV sites) which takes away from the already limited amounts of tent sites. For example, last year I had to stay one day short of what I wanted because I couldn't get an extra day added. Supposedly, all the partial hook-up's were booked full. when I arrived and for the entire stay the place was deserted. About half the sites were never in use by anyone (not the same sites but scattered as people came and left). My parents questioned me about having to make reservations 5 months in advance when it was that way and all I could think of was that people were booking them and never using them.

B) Because people only rent them for a day or two for the perks and don't use them it hurts people like me who like to stay for longer periods of time because it's a big problem to pack-up and move 2 big tents, canopy tent, clothes, mattresses, etc... when you can't keep the same camp site for the entire stay. I almost had that happen in 2006 but they finally were able to work around it at the last minute. ie... it breaks up the time period that you can keep a camp site when many are reserved 1 or 2 days only. I still don't understand why they I would have had to move since you can't reserve specific camp sites but I guess it's something in the reservation system.

Look no further than the Florida residents for this abuse.....Its been well documented in these threads .......Phantom Reservations:scared1:

WHAP WHAP WHAP - the sound of a dead horse being beaten.

Just when it seems this topic is dead, it gets resurrected.

SO WHO LIKES BEER?

I love beer. I love it so much I drink it, then book a site next to me, so I can throw my empties and prevent some family from coming to the Fort, so they have to go to KOA.

So you found me out. I am secretly trying to monopolize FW. I will rename it Kungalooshville and camping will be by invitation only. I will proclaim myself King Kungaloosh.

Since I've discovered your secret, King Kungaloosh, that means lifetime Kungalooshville invitations, right? I mean, you wouldn't want me to resort to blackmail, would you?

King Kungaloosh ALWAYS takes care of his friends. Of course, since Kungalooshville is so big, I can distance myself from some of my seedier friends.

How exciting! I don't think I've ever been called seedy before! I'm really coming up in the world in ways I've never imagined :rotfl:

I can deal with being distanced ;)

Actually, you will be placed in an adjacent loop. I was referring to Gatordad and Rog - those guys will be on the other side of Kungalooshville.

we'll be on the other side with the wild females. You will be in the loop with all the question asking people. Once Ami realizes how much more fun we are, she'll desert you as well.

Ok, now I'm confused. Am I seedy or not? If I'm not seedy does this mean I can't still be a Wild Female? I guess I can deal with an un-seedy title, but I have to hang with my wild sisters! That's sisters as in the greater sisterhood. Not the Catholic kind, btw.

Webster says:

1. abounding with seeds. -nah

2. gone to seed. -maybe :confused3

3. poor and ragged. -definitely

4.feeling or looking wretched. -absolutely

It appears that wikopedia and webster differ greatly on the subject
