:confused3 With all this talk about reservations, I was wondering if there was anyone that just ate at a counter service place in a park or their hotel. I was just wondering.

We do ADR's but only a few times during our stay. All the other times we eat at counter service in MK we will go to Cosmic Ray's or we go to the Plaza, this is sit down but we just make the ressie in between rides and then go back at our schedule time. In Epcot we eat at Electric Umbrella in AK we go to Tusker House,we don't do counter service in MGM I just don't like the counter food they have there. I know there are other counter service food areas but we are so use to these we have to expand and try the other ones.
As far as hotel, we are DVC memebers so BW doesn't have a food court, I wish they did. But we have done a few food courts before becoming a memeber. Counter Service is easier when there are no crowds.

In the beginning when we were so naive to the wonders of Disney Dining, we only ate counter service. I would go home and never want to look at chicken strips again. I honestly thought the only thing at c/s was burgers or chix. Now c/s has changed quite a bit and there are lots more choices. I am glad AK doesn't have T/S cause I love the food there so much. World Showcase has so many great choices I wouldnt feel the need to eat T/S there either. Hotel food courts also have so many great choices, you can get great dinners at most. Although I think you can find many great dining choices at C/S the question is: Do you want to wait in lines and fight to find a seat???? My worst experience happens every year at The Electric Umbrella. I can NEVER find a seat!!! I end up walking around with a trayful of food and no where to go. Every year I yell that I will never do this again, but somehow I do....the kids love the chix fingers there. For the past few years we discovered the love for T/S. We choose mainly lunches for it is cheaper and it is a great break from the crowds and the heat. We leave the restaurant feeling calm and refreshed instead of stressed and hot. So my long winded answer is YES- you can just eat counter service-but my question to you is....do you want to????

When we have stayed there for just one night or were doing something else than going to parks, we might just eat at counter service because it is quicker, cheaper, and more flexible on times. However on longer stays, we generally eat at a table service place for one meal a day.

Before this trip we are taking this October we mostly ate just counter services at the hotel and parks. Just out of convienence. But since we decided on the dining plan since it is our honeymoon, now we have to sit and think about where we are going to eat since we have 7 table service points. Honestly, I like the fact that we are actually able to eat at some of the wonderful restaurants Disney has to offer. If having dinner at a popular restaurant is in your plans, I would DEFINITLY make ADRs. I wouldn't want to risk being turned away at the podium. :sunny:

I try to do one ADR every day...especially during the hotter months. That way we get to sitdown, eat a decent meal and cool off. Otherwise, you tend to not eat the way you should and you get rundown quickly.

The CS food leaves a lot to be desired. It's o.k. for a meal or two, but we could definitely not eat CS for a week. It's really nice to sit down and have a good meal and relax before you start out into the parks again. :sunny:
