Reservation questions

I have a couple of questions about making reservations with the CRO:

1. If I make a reservation now for my trip in May for full price and a discount code comes out between now and May can I call back and get the discounted price (assuming the code is applicable)?

2. If I make a reservation now and decide to cancel whats the latest date I can cancel?

3. Also if I purchase UPHPasses at the desk when I check in do I have to buy them for the entire length of my stay? We are staying for 8 days but we want to spend 1 day at Universal, 1 day at Seaworld and 1 day lounging at the resort so we only really need 5 days. Will they sell me a UPHPass for only 5 days if I am staying 8?

In 2001 I got a great price on a room at POR using a code for a reservation I made about 3 weeks before our trip. I don't want to leave it so late this time and I will pay full price if I have to so I am trying to figure out a strategy for making my reservations.

Any additional tips would be a great help.

1. You can book your reservations now at CRO at rack rate and then when a code comes out, you can call back and apply the code to your existing reservation, assuming the code is applicable for your dates.

2.I believe with CRO reservations, you have 5 days before arrival to cancel. Make sure that you have CRO and not WDTC because the terms are different with both (you know you have WDTC when they try to sell you trip insurance).

3. You cannot buy a UPH and take days off in the middle. The UPH is activated from the time you check in until midnight of the day that you check out. You cannot take days off in between (or rather, you can take days off, but you are paying for them, so you might as well go to the parks). If you want to take days off in the middle, I suggest buying a park hopper pass or hopper plus and not the UPH. There have been reports where people can get the arrival day or departure day lopped off of the UPHs to save money there, but I believe that is at the discretion of the CM who is selling you the ticket. If you purchase the UPH ticket on the phone with CRO, they can't "lop" off any days.

I hope this answers some questions.

Thanks for the reply CM.

Has anyone had any experience with how many days they will "lop" off? If they would take off 2 I would probably be happy with that.

I love the UPHPass! It gives you so much freedom! We will spend the day in MK and then catch Fantasmic at MGM or Illuminations at Epcot at night. If we get bored at Blizzard beach we pick up and go to Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon. Or we may spend the day at MGM and then go catch Pirates and fireworks at MK.

I don't think there is any other way to do this kind of thing except with the UPHP. So its worth the extra money to me but I would like to minimize the money waste as much as possible.

You can still do that with a Park Hopper Pass.

You can still do that with a PHP, you'll just have to use up 2 pluses in one day.

Thanks SuzyQue, I went back and read about each type of ticket and I now see I am not missing much by just getting the PHPlus pass.

As a matter of fact other than unlimited access to the water parks, Pleasure Island (I don't usually go there anyway) the sports complex, and DisneyQuest there really isn't any other advantage to the UPHP. Is that correct or am I missing something?

Looks like you covered it all!!

I believe the PHP passes are alot cheaper and the
unused days never expire-you can use them on your
next WDW trip.

No I don't think you're missing anything, I guess for people who want to be able to go to the parks all day, every day, it's the way to go. I copied the following from wdwig.com, she explains it pretty well. ~:D~

There are major advantages and disadvantages to purchasing UPH's. The major advantage is that you can come and go as you please to any of Disney's theme parks, water parks, Pleasure Island, Wide World of Sports and DisneyQuest for as long as you stay without worrying about keeping track of used park days and plus options as you would with regular tickets. The major disadvantage to UPH's is that if you don't go to any of the Disney parks on a certain day (due to illness, offsite activities, visits to other Orlando theme parks, day spent at the resort pool, etc) you are still paying Disney for a day of admissions that you didn't use and can't save for future use.

And like mom_rules stated, unused days on PHP's never expire, so you won't feel like you have to use up all your days in 1 trip.
