Reservation Question?????

I have made reservations through Disney at ASmu thru the Disney website. I booked a room using the Autumn Special rates, however not all my chosen days were available so i had to pick up my first 2 days (Preferred rate $69) and last 5 (standard rate $59). Does anyone have any experiences with 2 reservations and how accomadating the resort wil be?? I dont care if i give up the preferred room as long as I can get one room for the week without having to move.. I've heard some people say you can write and request rooms etc before your arrival?? If so, when should I do that and what would be the better "Standard" building at ASmu? We don't need a closeness to the pools, just the food court and busses would be nice.

The preferred rooms are in the only buildings (Calypso) really close to the food court, bus stop and main pool. I believe the Jazz buildings are the next closest. I have stayed in buildings at the rear of the Resort on several different occasions. The walk to the food court and bus stop (there is only one) was about 10-15 minutes. This did not bother us except in the evenings when we were coming back to the resorts after a long day at the parks. If you go to the home page of this site you can checkout resort maps to get a better feel for the layout of the resort.
