Reservation Change: Possible Tax Rate Change

Hello all,
A couple of weeks ago I altered the reservations for our Nov. 2004 stay at ASMo which I originally made in August 2003. I had already paid the bill in full. When I received the modified reservation from Disney the total amount was different than the original amount by over $5 (for an 8 day stay at a Value). Couldn't figure out why, since the reservationist said that the rate would not change.

So, I called 407WDisney to ask and after much conferencing with her supervisor, my reservation agent told me that between the time I made the reservation and altered it, the tax rate had changed and by law the entire reservation had to be recalculated at the newer tax rate. All I had done was add on a day at the beginning of the reservation and drop one at the end(airfare was a lot cheaper for those dates!).

Just thought I would shout out an FYI to all my Dis Friends!

The tax rate in the county where the All Star Movies, Sports, and Music resorts went up to 13% from 12%. All other Disney resorts remain at 11.5%.

Even had you *not* made a change, the rate would have increased, since the state doesn't care when reservations are made or deposits are paid.

It's possible that in such a case, WDW would have eaten the difference to avoid problems, but the tax would still have to be paid by someone.

The resort tax rate increase was effective as of July 1, 2004 for all of Osceola County.
