Resale shopping again.. my heart wants one thing but my head says another. Give your opinions.

True about Lake View BLT. I find resort view can be pretty tough to find by 7 months though, and is pretty point thrifty!
Best value on the monorail! And it's hard to beat 2 full baths in the 1BR units, that saves us a lot of points, too, because often we only need the 2BRs for the extra bathroom

Welcome to Team Crescent Lake! lol

I do love the area a lot and that's why we own some BWV and RIV. It's beautiful and gives great easy access to 2 parks. I'm not sure I can give any great advice between BWV and BLT though since I couldn't choose myself and got a contract at both 🤣. One is a great location but short contract and the other is a great location and great value compared to the other monorail resorts. So I got both for a happy medium. I really love having easy access to the parks more than anything else when choosing my home resorts and it seems you do too

Yes easy access is 100% what I want/need. Right now Im just buying one, but who I am kidding I will probably end up with both BLT and BWV

Personally, I wouldn't let the 2042 expiration stop you from buying at one of those resorts. We just got our BRV points in 2023 and 2024 and I don't see myself regretting it at all. We adore the resort and will happily keep staying there.

As someone else who loves VGC, I think you will definitely like the style and lobby at Wilderness Lodge. so I will be curious to hear your thoughts after you finally stay there.

But if you loved Boardwalk and have the funds...I say why not??

My level headedness was saying I should sell CCV in order to justify buying BWV. We are just a about nervous about the 2042 since our CCV was such a value to us.

We would be alternating DL and WDW for Feb and April months. Like this year we did DL in Feb and WDW in April. Any other trips we take would be somewhat unplanned, like how we are going for the Sept Moonlight Magic.
Gotcha! Spring outside of Easter should be pretty easy to book more expensive view categories at BLT in larger units with non-BLT points. February has lots of holidays so some spottier availability, but also possible. Outside of "Fall Frenzy" your CCV points can probably book a lot of monorail resorts if you don't want to sell just yet. However, if you have your heart set on BWV no contract can replace BWV.

I could use when Easter falls as a way to decide my off year for WDW. We go for my son's birthday so sometimes it falls with Easter and sometimes not.

It sounds like you might be thinking too much and can talk yourself into or out of something. Maybe when you are feeling relaxed and not turning the wheels too much, you can symbolically hold your CCV contract in your hands and ask if it brings you joy. It might not be time to part with it and still be time to get yourself a BW contract. Timing is such a sensitive thing. It really sounds like you will be happy with a BW contract. I'm actually super excited for you to get it.

This is how I operate daily 😂 😂

That's always an option. The eggs, bunnies, and parade are cute, but it's definitely more crowded. That week was previously blocked out on the earlier versions of the 2nd tier annual pass.

May 3rd weekend
May the Fourth be with you is big at DHS and a busy time at WDW resorts.
We would be alternating DL and WDW for Feb and April months.
FYI: The period between Marathon Weekend in January and Presidents’ Day weekend in February is one of the lowest demand times of the D.V.C. year. Might be an easier time to get that BW view 2BR.

Great info. Thanks :) We would be wanting to be there days surrounding 02/16 my granddaughters bday.

Apologies that I didn’t read every reply, but IMO Boardwalk still makes sense at the right price, ESPECIALLY if you’re using it for Standard rooms, which are so outrageously point cheap it makes the rest of the math almost (but only almost) irrelevant.

The same can’t be said of most of the other 2042s

As to value, I think even in 10 years it will retain some value. At that point everything will be crystal clear - you can very closely approximate remaining dues and cash costs looking only 5 or 6 years out, so a buyer is basically looking at buying a prepaid vacation plan. It’s almost a try-it-before-you-buy-it for DVC, and I actually think expiring resale contracts will be pretty popular.

It wouldn’t shock me if even in 2035 it is worth $50 a point or even quite a bit more - depends a lot on cash rates and dues.

Thanks, I really appreciate your take and insight on it.

Of course.

It strikes me that I’ve been posting here since just after Riviera opened and people have been asking the entire time “why haven’t the 2042 resorts fallen off a cliff” (by which they always actually mean Boardwalk and Beach Club).

And it hasn’t happened, because it’s not how that works.
