We are home!
The doctor came in and told us that something showed up on Austin's leg xray from Wednesday so we had to go for an MRI this morning. It may be a benign (not cancerous) tumor or some other unexplained inflamation of the knee cartilage. Good news - if it had turned out to be a staph infection of the bone Austin would have had to be on IV antibiotics for six weeks! The radiologist is certain that it is not cancer or infection so we will see an orthopedic surgeon in a week or so.
Austin's creatinine level was 4.1 today, and his blood pressure is being controlled by two oral meds. He feels great and for the most part seems back to his old self. Kids are so amazing! His kidneys will continue to heal and he is getting his appetite back. He has requested hot dogs and french fries for dinner tonight.
Doctor predicts that Austin's kidneys will be fully healed by September; we will see him weekly for a while to monitor his progress.
We are so grateful for the prayers and support from this board - you guys are great. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
