Replacing the clown

I just brought it up because it does seem to have a negative effect on many people, plus it looks like it could be replaced relatively cheaply.

Remember that it wouldn't just be replacing the clown. Theme pools are heavily featured in the marketing and advertising literature. When Disney makes a major change like that, the marketing literature is immediately dated.

Sometimes its a worthwhile thing to do - the marketing literature can be redone and the cost of maintenance or the improvement brings ROI. (Cost - Epcot sign over Spaceship Earth - that can't have been cheap to maintain. Improvement - Poly Pool). But I don't think that is the case with the BW clown - it doesn't cost any more to maintain than other theme elements (and probably less than many) and there isn't a need for a major refresh.

When the pool needs to be retiled and the bar rebuilt, then we will get a revisit on the clown.

I like the clown. In fact, I may use it as my avatar....

PS - tksbaskets: Obviously, I "borrowed" the image from your snapshot, let me know if you'd prefer I not use it. Otherwise I could change my signature to:

Clown is ugly and annoying and I agree my general sense at BWV is that the management doesn't upkeep this place enough... Haven't been there since the renovations though, so it could look awesome now.

However, I love the slide itself, it is way more fun than WL,SSR or even BLTs new one. So if the clown must stay thats ok with us!

LOL! I'm honored that one of my humble photos is your avitar :thumbsup2 I appreciate your asking. Use it in good health (sans the Copyright) and think of my son every time you see it. He's the one coming down the slide. They were not bothered a bit by the clown :goodvibes

I'm getting a kick out of this entire thread. I certainly intended each of my posts to be light hearted as I think most posters did. It is something fun to speculate about.

Thanks to the pp who put in the link to pennywise the clown ... now I don't feel so bad about the BW one

On a positive note, I think the elephant is adorable at the BW pool. Don't you all? I just make sure my lounge chair faces this way and my diet coke mug is full then it's all good!

I love the creepy chair in the lobby almost as much as I love the vomiting clown... but then again, all of those Miss America pictures in the sweet store are really disturbing! Relax and enjoy the sideshow, people! ;)

I'll have to pay more attention when we go in December. . . obviously I was too intent on the candy to see the picture. :rolleyes1

Which chair is disturbing in the lobby?

There is a creepy little chair by the fireplace that was these clown/acrobat faces... I've seen a picture posted somewhere here on the DIS. I love that disturbing little artifact.
In the candy store, each Miss America has her picture on the walls... all those big white teeth... it is like they are all after my ice cream. :scared:

Lol, I vote for keeping it. I think clowns are creepy too, but if it keeps people away maybe we could plant some more around the resort:)

Perfect! How about putting one at the entrance to the BW/BWV guest parking lot! Do you think that will free up some spaces for the folks staying there? Great idea!

Now you're thinking! :lmao: Preferably the from from "It".

Its cheap, loud, tacky, ugly all the things that describe the jersey shore. Thats why we love it. My mother would have referred to it as honkey tonk. If you don't like it go to another resort. That is why there are so many. So that we can choose the one we like the best.
