Replacing the clown

I don't mind the idea of the clown, but my issue is that it is soooooo faded and worn. It adds to my general impression of BWV, which is that the management does not put much effort into keeping it in top condition and let things get too run down.

The Inn was completely remodeled in 2008 and the Villas in 2009.

Our family calls this the "IT" pool (think Stephen King) Never liked clowns after I saw that movie

It's not like the clown was just something that Disney made up. It is a replica of a Jersey boardwalk icon. I can't believe that people make this big of a deal over that clown. :confused3

The Clown must go! :scared:

;)

Too much fuss about the clown. My vote is keep it, it's part of the BW ambiance. Side note probably main note, I really don't want my dues paying for a change that IMHO is unnecessary. New roof, siding etc. no problem.

People talk about theme... what exactly is the BW theme other than to replicate the feel of the NJ boardwalk? Is it a circus theme? :confused3

Like others, I also think they could easily replace the face - with Dumbo with his big ears sticking out, maybe he could be squirting water into the center of the pool. Or they could try a Goofy. My point is that there are other faces that would fit. Why they choose the clown we'll never know.

I personally don't care if they replace it or not even though I have a clown phobia. I love BWV for much more than the pool, and when out at the pool I'm never positioned to be staring right at the thing. It doesn't bother me a bit. Of course having a margarita in hand might numb me to the fear too ;)

I think it would bother me if I had a room looking out onto it at night though.

People have fears of heights, flight, darkness, ghosts, singing dolls of the world and giant poultry limbs, but that doesn't stop Disney from incorporating those things in their rides and experiences.

Keep the clown, it reduces the crowds. :thumbsup2

I could live with the elephants trumpeting less often.

:earsboy: Bill

We just got back last week from our first stay at BWV. Our room view was a direct line of sight of the clown. I LOVED IT! I'm not a huge fan of clowns but I really thought it fit the theme very well and I didn't find it creepy at all.

I just have a fear of not being able to get the IASW song out of my head. No problem with the singing dolls ;)

I agree. I like the clown! :rotfl2:

I love the clown and the resort!! If it keeps some people away then it just makes it easier for me to book at 7 months out :cool1: Thanks mister clown:lmao:

Exactly!

IMO, the parking situation is a larger deterrent than the clown, anyway

Oh my gosh, can we get another big clown you have to drive through his mouth to get into the parking lot, problem solved. :rotfl2:

I just brought it up because it does seem to have a negative effect on many people, plus it looks like it could be replaced relatively cheaply.

Boardwalk doesn't seem to have an occupancy problem so I don't think it keeps a significant number of people away. It's been there almost 14 years.

I don't get adults being afraid of the clown. One woman posted that she ran away screaming when she saw the clown. :confused3

Oh please; ran away screaming????????........:rotfl2:

LOL! I'm not fond of clowns but it didn't prevent me from enjoying the pool at the Boardwalk.

Now I do know someone who ran away screaming from Alien Encounters at MK. ;) I didn't feel bad when that went away but it wouldn't have prevented me from visiting.

The clown is fine with me. I wish the pool was more in-line with the other DVC pools though. Maybe a splash area instead of the kiddie pool. A zero entry would be nice as well.

Creepy, I mean really, a pink nose and stars for eyes, it's not much of clown, even after you've had a few at the bar!

Couldn't agree more ;)
