I have a bit of an odd situation for my upcoming trip. I have rented point successfully several times, and have done so again for my trip in a few days. However, since renting the points I have purchased my own contract. So I am now a member, but I am not staying on my own points. Am I considered an owner for this stay or not? In the past I have always tried to be considerate of not using perks that I am not entitled to, but now I feel like I'm in a grey area. Does my blue membership card grant me full rights and privileges, or do I need to wait and stay on my own points? I'm not too concerned about it, just mildly curious. I would love to count this as my fisrt real trip "home"!

You will certainly be able to use your membership card for things like valet parking and restaurant discounts, but you will NOT be able to get the free internet access because the reservation was not made with your points. At least that's the way I understand it. Of course, you still qualify for the AP discount etc.

I think guests (staying on points) do get free internet access...I know I reserved two studios on points last month; one for me and one for my daughter...both studios got free internet...so long as the villa is paid for w/points it appears the internet access is free...

The internet really isn't an issue because I won't have a laptop, but I am delighted to hear that I (should) have the dining and valet parking perks!

I have a friend who rented points for a stay (because she was out of points) and she got free internet. Not sure if she showed her membership card at the desk.

As far as owning the reservation, you do not, it still belongs to the owner of the points.

Like DebbieB said, you don't own the reservation, so you can't call MS about it. But you are a member for the trip and are entitled to member perks.

You are a member, and I would say this is your first "real trip home!!!" Congratulations, and enjoy your stay!

:welcome: HOME!!! party:

We've exchanged in a number of times and sometimes we get the same perks as members, sometimes not. If you ask you will likely get the benefits.
