Renting Points Question

Can I only rent current year's points or can I borrow from the next year and rent them together with the current year. I just want to know the rules so I can plan. I was thinking about renting my points and using the cash for a cruise instead of using points. That way I wouldn't have to use as many points up, but I would need more than one year's points to pull it off.

Any help is appreciated in understanding the rules.

Yes, you can borrow points to make a rental reservation (subject to normal borrowing rules). If your Use Year is June, you could borrow from the June, 2004 Use Year for a reservation in Feb, 2004.
