Renting points and DDP

What is the process when renting points and using the DDP? Do we pay the DVC owner for the DDP or do we get it at checkin?

It has to be paid for at the time it's added to the reservation (a change that was instituted several months ago). It also has to be added no later than 2 days (48 hours) prior to the reservation starting.

How you do it is between you and the owner you rent from. Some owners collect payment and then add the DDP. Others will do a 3-way call during which you can give your credit card number to Member Services. Or, you can give your credit card number to the owner who will use it to pay for the DDP. Or, some owners say you can buy Disney gift cards in an amount equal to the cost of the DDP, give the card numbers to the owner, and the owner will use that to add (and pay for) the DDP to your reservation. But how and when you do it is up to your owner and you and whatever agreement you reach.

I highly recommend using the Disney Gift cards. A renter we had did this and it makes everything so much easier to know no one has to give out anyone's credit card info or other private information. On a three way call I was told by MS, I would have to give my ss# and membership number to even get started.
