I'm doing some research for my BIL - he caught on to my idea of renting the DVC points, but basically the only research he has done is what I tell him. Not a wise plan, but oh well. HIs business LOL. He is doing his "differently" than we are, in that he is staying 8 days at one resort, but his points are being rented from 2 different DVC members.

Can anyone provide me with some insight as to what complications he may need to deal with so I can pass it on?

I would think there is a chance they need to change rooms.

Secondly, I seem to recall their being issues with park tickets or dining ressies, but I could be making that up.

Yes, since it is 2 separate reservations he may have to change rooms, but if he explains at check in, maybe they can accomodate him staying in the same room.

If he's using Magic Express for transportation he'll have to have the party he rents from for the first part of his stay make his ME reservation from the airport to the resort and the other person he's renting from at the end of his stay make the reservation from the resort back to the airport.

I'm not sure about ticket issues.

I'm doing a split stay next month, first 4 nights directly from Disney at POFQ and next 4 nights renting DVC points (through a broker) at BCV. I was able to book all of my dining ADRs for the entire week using the first reservation. You can still book dining 180+10 at the 180 day mark of the first reservation, even if the reservation doesn't cover all of the dates you are booking adrs for. So, I don't think there should be any dining issues.

As another posted said it will be considered 2 separate reservations since he is renting from 2 different DVC members points. If he explains the situation at check in they may allow him to stay in the same room, but he will still have to check out and check back into the room.

As far as the dining plan goes he might have to get the dining plan on each reservation. Meaning if he was going for 7 nights and one reservation is for 3 nts he would have to purchase the dining plan for 3 nts on that reservation then purchase the dining plan on the second reservation for the last 4 nights. Make sense?

As far as tickets he can purchase separately before going or have them added at check in at the first resort. I'm pretty sure you can have the tickets added to the KTTW card at the first resort and use them for the rest of the trip as tickets don't expire until 14 days after the first use.

We did a split like this last summer we used our points for four days of the stay and rented for two days. We were able to link the two so we did not have to switch rooms we did have to recheck in on day 3. We did not have the dining plan maybe that can be link too. Tickets are separate so he should just get the number of days he wants. The only problem we had was mouse keeping insisted on doing a full cleaning on day three when we rechecked in. Other then that it went very smoothly.
