Renting a car with a DEBIT Mastercard?

I have a rental reserved for my sister with Alamo. Sher and her husband do not use credit cards, but have a debit Mastercard. Will this present a problem for renting a car? Thank you.

I believe that when you rent with Alamo, using a debit card, if you have proof of round trip air travel, you are fine. Just be sure they have that proof. I used to just have a copy of my air travel itinerary with me.

Alamo does not put a hold on the debit or credit card.

1. Our visa debit will not be hit by a big deposit if we use Alamo?

2. Someone else could book it for us and use their card?

We are scrambling wondering how we will get around without a rental so any help is appreciated.....

With Alamo, if you have proof of round trip travel you can use a debit card. Have your r/t airline itinerary with you. I never had a big deposit charged to my account when using a debit card.

No, you have to use your card - but it can be a branded debit card. And no, Alamo (and National, and possibly Enterprise), won't put a hold on your card if you - as goofy4tink emphasizes - have proof of round trip travel.

Just a warning..

If you return the car with a new ding... they can and will hit that debit card for a "hold" on the repair.
