We'll be using TinaH's big Wildcat 5th wheel camper (from www.CampAtTheFort.com) during our next trip to the Fort....so I have plenty of room to haul my golf cart in the bed of my truck instead of hauling a camper, or all of the tent supplies and extras for that 10 hour drive. Ive been wanting to get a camper of our own, but the current shape of the economy just hasnt allowed for that to happen...so this way, we can still enjoy all the benefits and fun of camping at the Fort without having to actually buy a camper and making those monthly payments. This is the next best thing to ownership for us. I can't wait to see how everything works out. Now I have to go get some ramps to get the cart onto the truck. Any suggestions? Who makes the best ramps? I saw some at Lowes made by Reese, 86" for about $90, and 90" for about $150...does that extra 4" really make a $60 difference?

Can't help you with the ramps, but the camper rental sounds great. We have considered this ourselves instead of hauling our camper down during the winter months. Sounds like a good time.

Wow Rog, I bet you are excited. From what I understand Tina's 5er is very nice and roomy. You're gonna be spoiled and you are really going to have the "trailer bug" when you get done with that trip. Once you camp in one, it becomes an obsession to purchase one. :cool1:

For sure first the cabin then the camper! Rog I think we had a cabin accross from you a couple of years ago. I remeber seeing the green Mickey head in the window of a van?

So..when's the big trip...:confused3
You're gonna enjoy yourself for sure! :cool1:

Renting the camper is a great idea. It also gives you a good idea of what you want in a camper, should this economy ever get better and you can see yourself clear to buying one.

I do not have a golf cart ... yet lol.

But I do have a 929 cbr ( street bike )that I load in the back of my wife's dodge 3500
its nice and wide and strong as heck.

I got mine used in the paper for like 75.00

Or if you have a TSC near you here's one http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp...10551_10001_34006_-1______?rFlag=true&cFlag=1

Ron.

Thanks Ron...I'll check to see if there is a TSC here.

I know....being that Ive never used a camper before...her delivering, setting it up and taking it away when wwere done gives us the chance to see if staying in one is really worth me learning all of the ins and outs of owning and maintaining one of my own. Im really psyched. And the pics of the one they rent out are so nice on the http://www.CampAtTheFort.com website, I really think we're gonna have a great time.

Yup...Im almost afraid I'll catch the bug so hard that I'll throw myself into debt to satisfy that obsession!!! maybe I'll just rent from her once a year and save all the ownership headaches.

That was most likely us...we stayed in the cabins in December 2007. White van with my green mickey head in the back window. The cabins were great..but have gotten to be a little out of my budget these days. The camper rental is much more reasonable and just as roomy.

I need to dig up that Mickeyhead thread...I havent had anyone request a sign in a long time!!

Those DO look sturdier....and the price is right there in comparison....I think Im going to buy these!!!! Thanks a million D!!!!!

On one trip we rented a cart and I made ramps with the parts from lowes, it worked out most of the time, did have one ramp come of the truck once though as I was backing the cart of the truck, that was interesting :drive: needless to say if I use those ramps again i will figure a way to secure them to the truck better

Awesome! I can smell that camping bug coming your Way! LOL So is it really cheaper to rent the camper then to stay in the cabins?

Well...the cabins start at over $265 a night (value season...cheapest rate), CampAtTheFort.com's rental rate is a flat $135 a night, plus the site fee...so YES...its much less expensive!!!

Congrats Rog!! What level of site did you upgrade to?? Full or Premium??

WOW! That is quite a competitive rate! You can actually stay in CampAtTheFort's 5th wheel in a Premium site, during the most expensive rate season (over Christmas) for less than a cabin during the cheapest rate season! $135 + $130.50 ($116 + 12.5% tax) = $265.50 in a Premium at Christmas! Versus $265 + 12.5% = $298.13 for a cabin in value season!

Awesome deal!

Congratulations!! We're staying in Tina's 5th Wheel next month.. I can't wait!:) If Tina doesn't mind I plan on posting lots of pictures of our site/trip.
