I have two boys, one is turning four on our trip the other is 6. While both like to walk, I know my soon to be 4 year old will need some sort of stroller, plus he's a slow walker. My 6 year old will not want to sit until his legs are about to fall off. But if it's there, he'll ride. So my question is, how much is it to rent the double strollers at the parks? If you park hop you just show your receipt, right? Or would I be better off buying a double umbrella stroller just for the trip? I do have a friend who would be able to use this stroller after I'm done with it and has mentioned possibly buying it from me when we return from the trip. Should I go that way? Or is it worth it to rent them the entire week?

A double stroller in the parks is $18.00 per day, with a discount for multi day rentals, (IIRC $16.00 per day). Once you rent each day just keep the receipt and you can get a new stroller in the same or a different park anytime during the day.

I will say despite the cost they are good for older children, easy to push and no hassle with getting the stroller on the bus/tram/monorial etc.

I kind of agree with the PP as far as the rented strollers are very "pusher friendly". However, having said that, we always bring our own double stroller. It is the tandem type (one seat in front of the other) and we love it. That probably would not work for your two boys though. I have heard that the double umbrella strollers can be hard to manuever, especially if you have older children in them.

I had the same question and found that umbrella strollers often have a weight limit of 30 lbs for single, 60lbs for a double. Something to look for when/if you go shopping for one!! I have heard the that double strollers at Disney are easy to maneuver (sp?) and are $16/day.

We rented last year for our 4 and 5 year old boys (at the time) and will rent a double again soley because we can't find a double without a bar at the front that will support their weight where they can sit side by side. The rentals aren't cheap (I thought we paid $25 for 2 days?) but they are great strollers.
I don't want ones with bars since we want the boys to be able to get in and out quickly and easily (without me having to pick them up!). We did find a combo stroller/bike trailer but the stroller configuration has a bar out in front (for the wheel) and we had visions of taking out people's ankles in the parks. :rotfl2:

Another option is if you are 2 adults to buy 2 cheapie umbrella styles and just leave them in Florida.

we are renters also. Last time we went, last june the kids were 4 & 7, so we did not get one right away, some days we did not need one. It is easier at night after the fireworks to have one, at MK & Epcot people just pushed them off to the side & walked off without them, so We would grab one & use it till we got to the exits.

It also depends if you would use it outside the parks. We brought our own a few years back since we needed it for the walk between our hotel and Epcot, at Downtown Disney, and the airport. If you only need one in the parks, then this wont affect your decision, but if you might want one for other places, it's worth it to bring your own :wave2: .

If you are looking to rent a stroller check out abbf.com They rent everything you could possibly need and their prices are great, The stroller they will give you is something you would buy, not one of those hard plastic things they have at the parks. Also they deliver to the hotel and pick it up. We used them for a toddler bed last year and they were great. :thumbsup2 Also if you rent from them you wont have to worry about a stroller when you go other places than the parks.
