Rental community closest to Universal?

We've rented detached homes with a pool in the Kissimmee area when visiting Disney. We'd like to rent a home with it's own pool near Universal Studios.

I am aware that it's harder to find detached homes near Universal because of zoning issues but can someone recommend what community that allows rentals that would be the closest to Universal and or the easiest to access the highway to go to Universal.

We are not interested in a condo as we want our own pool. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Honestly, I am not aware of any rental home communities in close proximity to Universal. There may be some individual rentals available through VRBO or AirBNB but I don't know that I would be comfortable with that, myself.

What we have found works best is to stay onsite during the Universal (first) part of our vacation, then rent a car and move to a villa in Kissimmee for the second part of our vacation. We have also tried "commuting" from our rental in Kissimmee to Universal but did not find this very enjoyable - too much driving and parking fees!

Orange County does not permit short term rentals. You will have to find something in Osceola or Polk. I would figure the closest to Universal would be in the Windsor Hills area which is the closest to I-4 from 192. It's about 20 minutes to universal from WH.

Yep, gonna be hard to find. Try Tripadvisor vacation rentals. You can select homes with pools and a map of the available homes. They will likely be down by Disney. Depending on where and when you would leave for Universal it could only take 15 to 20 minutes.

Yes thank you Park Hopper Fan: This is the type of info I was looking for. Communities closest to a quick exit to get on the I-4. I realize that I'm not going to find a ear Universal.

There is one---it's condos, not villas/pool homes, but Vista Cay is very close to the convention center. I don't know how or why this is here, because I've heard the "Not in Orange County" thing either. But, it's an option. There are several on VRBO and similar places.
