I think that's a great rate, too!

We usually rent from Budget, we even have that FastBreak membership and we use either Costco or AAA to get a discount...
We usually rent an SUV, but this time the prices seemed a little too high, so I tried to rent a full-sized car. Being a member of FastBreak, you also get little perks, and we received a coupon for an upgrade.
Even with all my discounts and the coupon, we were going to rent a Regular Ford Taurus for $350 for 8 days.....
It was hard to swallow and a month later (last night) I checked all the other websites (Hertz, Avis, etc.)
Then I tried Alamo...
We can get a friggin' CADILLAC for the same time with discounts (I joined their *********** program) for $236.00!!
Let's see, pay more for a Ford Taurus or pay less for a Caddy!
We choose the Caddy!
It seems Alamo has some great rates. I would say keep your reservation :)

10 days huh... good... I'd take it (this wasn't the prepay right?) check it daily to see if the price comes down. If it does...reserve the newer rate, and cancel the old :cool1:

Have you tried Thrifty? I got great rates for a minivan from them. If you are a Sam's Club member you can use the promotion # SAMS Good Luck! :sunny:

You should check out thrifty.com.

They have a Minivan for not much more.....

Thanks to everyone for the info about Thrifty. I checked Sam's Club, but the better deal was straight through Thrifty.com.

I have the same dates for $208 and we now have an SUV. My husband is so happy. He was not excited about the midsize.

Keep in mind ........Thrifty is not on airport.....you will need to take a shuttle bus from baggage claim to their offsite location. I always try to stick with National, Budget, or Dollar in Orlando. They seem to have the best reputation. Mousesavers also recommends these three. I agree with Alamo's rates being very good......however, after the last two times we used Alamo my DH swore never again since he waited in line approximately 1 1/2 hours both times (our flight to MCO was only a little over two hours and then he waited almost that long for a rental car!!!)

To get the Sam's Club discount you just go to Thrifty's website and there is a place to put in a promotion # Type the letters SAMS into the box and you can save an additional 10%.

Thanks! I didn't notice Thrifty was offsite until after I reserved. I'm now thinking of canceling Thrifty and just keeping the Alamo. The shuttle bus is such a pain, especially late at night with kids.

Also, I can buy a lot of stuff at Disney with that extra $60. :) My husband will survive with the smaller car. The gas bill should be lighter as well. We are using the car to go to JSC for the shuttle launch (so me may be driving multiple times if the launch is delayed).

The shuttle is not bad at all, the most I had to wait for a shuttle to the thrifty location was 5 mins. Most times there is a shuttle waiting right at the airport to take you over. The driver even does the bags for you. The bus is extremely clean and well taken care of.

I don't mind the shuttle either. My husband does, though.
The only problem he has with renting from someplace offsite is when our vacation is over, we have to leave a lot earlier than we normally would just so we could find the way back to the off-site rental place and then take the shuttle. We're good with directions, but when you're not familiar with the area and (as in the case of Orlando) the geography is always changing with new construction, it becomes confusing
